It is not every day POOLS win a big crunch game away from home. Nelson gave a masterclass in defending and in the last 20 minutes he headed, kicked and blocked everything down the middle. Over the years I have enjoyed his battles with Lee Peacock - it was back pokcet time this afternoon.

A mention for Dimi - just one save to make when that arrogant so and so Christian Roberts was through on goal and Dimi came out to smoother the ball. A word of praise for James Brown who was twisting and turning - all he lacks is real pace and strength. Praise also for the effort of Effion his runs down the channels were good and a honest day's labour from Baron before injurry to his knee I think and Liddle!

Andy Monkhouse -surely now sung to the Pig Bag tune for the next game - scored with a goodo back sticker header after poor defending. Swindon hit the bar the one time when we were sloppy at the back.

Finally, the fans - non stop erotic caberet for 90 minutes. Sing your heart out boys! A good day's work!

not the most enjoyable game ever, except for the final whistle, but who cares?

i've NEVER been an optimist when it comes to Pools, but even I'm starting to croak along with "We're gonna win the league!" - having seen swindon twice this season, really can't understand how theyre second?

My sentiments exactly. The pitch was heavy and it will have knacked the lads up but I asked my missus....( the font of all pools knowledge) why they were up the top and not mid table ? Cos they are fookin jammy was the reply...font of all knowledge as I say....

luck and "crest-of-a-wave" momentum from things like appointing Wise and Poyet, then Sturrock, will only carry them so far. The test of true quality is how good the players really are when they play at their best. When we play at our best, our team is better both individually and collectively.

totally agree there. I actually think they [ swinedon] will impload now and be scraping for the final play off spot. That will echo sturrocks assesment on the radio witshire on the way home when he was asked about monkey and he said he would sell him again as he said he was building a team for the future....he's expecting more defeats now mark my words.

We are home and away fans and at this stage of the season legs will be getting tired but not at pools. we have seen some good teams this year and if you take into account the pitch at shrewsbury and yesterday then we have a much better fitness level but that has already been said.

I know If swinedon were indeed top table quality and not as I suspect mid table quality then yesterday elevated pools to another level.

I mean at one time i 'm sure that we saw dimi having a manacure and a facial in between swinedons two attempts on goal.

Jimmy brown was a stand out again and will be served well as a winger this year and beefed up in the gym during the summer to take on a bigger and better role next year in attack.

Along with neller being there with clarky and not forgetting we were without boland and barker.....

Our points average now is 1.87 per match.

Took the words right out of my mouth that tune failed to exist as soon as Borer started using it (unless of course we ever play the in a proper game and we scored against them then we'd have to sing it obviously clappp clappp )
