These glorified laggy bands that people wear, it seems that as far as kids are concerned its the colour that matters rather than any message..

I noticed my daughter wearing an orange one with an orange scarf at the weekend. On closer examination the words on it were as follows:

FOR GOD AND ULSTER

She had never heard of the UVF but the colours matched. Obviously I bored her for several hours about the heroes of the Ulster Volunteer Force and the Shankhill Butchers.

Fook knows where she got it from!

Did I ever tell you of the time my Aunt and Uncle (who retired from the military as a RSM, and has two sons, both who have done several tours of Afghanistan) were refused service in their local supermarket in Shrewsbury because their 'Help for heroes' wristbands offended the Muslim cashier?

As an ex RSM I suspect he might have had something to say. I could be wrong on this point :)

He most certainly did! He has the loudest shout I've ever heard! Anyway to cut a long story short, manager is called, and after a brief 'discussion' it's decided they take their groceries to a different checkout. Whereupon my Uncle decides to take his custom elsewhere.... unbelievable but absolutely true

Would loved to have seen it. RSM's a generally the most feared man on camp (by soldiers and officers alike) I've actually heard an RSM shout to a young officers "Get your farking arse here - Sir".

They are also full of wisdom for the young soldier if you're brave enough to ask.

Its interesting that fashion invented by the Mill House baths 20-30 years ago has caught on in such a big way!
