Agreed, cracking performance today, I love his work ethic. Plays wherever he is told to and quietly gets on with his job.

I thought he did ever so well at the start of the season covering for Neil Austin. He's also come on when Murray has needed a rest and done an effective job. Once again today, asked to play in a different position and puts in another very good performance. IMO when new contracts are being given at the end of the season Haslam deserves one !!!

and to think people wanted him releasing & were reluctant to give him a chance because he came from League 2 Rochdale.

We need more players like him. Does a competent job in several different positions.

Don't think I've ever seen Haslam have a 'bad' game.

Always grafts, and is a very steady and composed player.

It was Bury but lets not split hairs, the same could be said about Paul Murray. Haslam has never let us down like...

Monkhouse missing for yesterday and without Collins for most of the match but normal service resumed, even after going behind. Let's face it Oldham looked good in the first 25 mins and I thought a point would have been a good result at that moment - but the way Pools counter attacked in the second half after going ahead before half time was superb. A team that can really change its style of play effectively to combat the opposition.
BTW is there anyone in the league with a better left foot than Horwood?

I forgot all about monky being missing. I think its fair to say we didnt really miss him.

and no, i dont think there is anyone with a better left foot than horwood. Carlisle must have been crazy to get rid.

Carlisle getting rid of Horwood was the second worst release of 2010 behind the Lockerbie bomber.

solid relaible versatile utility player. i am a bit sick of the 'irish fan club' at pools who want to see behan and gamble playing before anyone else and wadsworth has seen through this - still heard it yesterday - why isnt he bringing gamble on yet etc....zzzz. He want players who train and live like professional footballers to play for the club. Those who want to spunk all their 'hard earned' wages up the wall in the juicer or in corals don't really fall into that category. Not saying the rest are saints but when they either dont make it off the bench, or dont get a sniff at it, then it speaks volumes.

yesterday once haslam settled in - and it didnt take long - the shape of the back four was restored. the attacking format changed to as humpty was having no luck down the left, quick change, quick four goals. job done.

shrewd football. not sexy. shrewd.

I think Paul Murray is the closest we have had yet in trying to replace Mark Tinkler. A player who can control the pace of the game, uses the ball simply but effectively and works tirelessly when we haven't got the ball. This role is at the centre of the team and dictates how effective we are. Gamble, in my opinion, isn't up to it.

You have to remember that both Gamble and Behan did'nt exactly choose to come here, rather that their previous club Cork City had encountered financial difficulties which may have resulted in them having to move on rather than wanting to ?

at last a manager who plays people on merit and doesn't bully players - unlike the previous bloke and his thick, long forgotten henchman

Steve Haslam is a manager's dream. He does the job asked of him at a moment's notice and never lets himself, the manager or the club down.
They all deserve praise after yesterday but, given the circumstances, Haslam was outstanding. Well done to him.
And Paul Murray..........pure class.
Like Tinkler did, Mr Murray has released Mr Sweeney again.
How Sweeney must have been frustrated by the lack of such a player after the demise of Tinks.
