I got in tonight to find a missive from npower on my doormat.

I thought it would be one of the usual 'switch to us we're cheaper' letters, but it turns out they were bollocked by Ofgem recently for overcharging customers a few years ago. As I was one of their customers at the time, Ofgem have worked out that they owe me fifty-odd quid, which I will receive shortly.

That will more than pay for my trip to the replay. With the leftovers I think I'll buy the bairn a toy combine harvester and our lass a piping bag and nozzle set.

Logged onto the Npower website, entered the code on the letter, confirmed my address and they'll send out a chit to exchange for cash at a Post Office.

Either that, or I've been hoodwinked and will shortly be receiving torrents of sex toy catalogues and Readers Digest-style competition wins through the door.

They had been overcharging me for years and i was paying round about £180 a month direct debit for gas and elec and then in i was getting a big bill in ever few months and i would ring up complaining and wouyld get fobbed off.

It wasnt untill i moved to a bigger house and was talking to other people about the prices and they where paying a lot less that i went on a comparrison site and got it a lot cheaper and moved company. I then got a call off Npower offering me a cheap deal and i give them a mouth full about ripping me off that she told me it was my fault for just payoing it and i should have asked for a better deal and when i told her i had rang loads a times about how much i was paying and why i hadnt been offered a better deal then she kept telling me its because i hadnt actually asked for a cheaper deal, so i better get a lumper or i will kick off again

Mr Kint, they might send the letter to your old address, so as whoever lives there to keep an eye out for it. My bills were modest so they may well owe you a few hundred at least.

I'm afraid it doesn't work that way, people with low gas usage were the ones mostly affected. The higher priced primary units had been overcharged, because of a change in the way they were calculated.
