I notice from the stats section on your site that this seasons team are homing in on the clean sheets record, at the minute its 15 from 30 games, the record is 20 by the 67/68 promotion team.

That means 6 from the last 16 games.

Nine of the 24 goals we've conceded came in three games (herefud, shrewsbry, peterbro), which is in fact a good thing.
We've found a way of concentrating six or seven games worth of goals-against into a tiny handful of matches. Better still, we even won one of them, so we're concentrating our biggest scores into the right games too.

P.S. If we're doing well defensively (I hadn't looked for a while but I see we're right up there among the best in the goals against table) - how well are Walsall doing?

That was a strange season really: we took the league by storm in the last third but we didn't score very many goals at all despite having had the first and third most productive strikers in the division the previous season.

We've beaten those 60 goals any number of times before and since, but I don't believe we've ever done as well defensively - if Fact if John says 46 against was our most miserly season then that's the season he is on about.

Now, though we might be on the way to conceding fewer than those 46, we might also be on the way to scoring fewer than 60. In fact, whether you take our last 8 games, last 16 games, or the whole season as a yardstick we'll only finish with around 58.

But not to worry, if the defensive yardstick works as well as the attacking one, that'll almost certainly be more than enough! :sweet:

That was back in the old days of goal average which was always a strange way of calculating anything. Luckily goal difference, as they do now, gives a value to goals conceded. And we're not conceding any!!
