For the old and bold................

Was there a club in Hartlepool called the Doubledeckers. This would have been late sixties / early seventies.

If there was, where was it ?

One of the streets off Whitby Street, it would have been now where the car park is at the back of the Hillcarter, if I can remember, at the bottom of the street before Chicago Rock

Used to go on a Saturday afternoon when I was a kid, think I went a few times on a night too, they had teenage nights, always remember hearing "My brother Jake" by Free for the first time their. It might have been a proper Nightclub, but I wasnt old enough to go, remember you had to go upstairs and it was dark and dingey

That Saturday kids thing was the reason I asked. I remember leaving home with my sister, she was about 12 then so I will have been 10. We were off to Seaton baths.

She stitched me up by taking me to this dingy place that I vaguely remember being called Doubledeckers and I sat on a chair all afternoon with my towel under my arm waiting for her.

Oh, disappointed. Thought I was about to enter meaningful discussion about my favourite chocolate bar.
Whats yours?
