read yesterday that he'd passed away. met the bloke quite a few times in the course of an old job and quite a few times since. always found him polite and enthusiastic about the town, even tho i didn't agree with his politics one bit. he did loads of legwork for local and national charities, and should be remembered with fondness for that.
