I've just seen it on Look North.

I don't see any problem other than the fact that it is neither tall or a ship.

Looking forward to seeing the Negroes Friday night.
Don't know if there's anyone else decent on:)

Look, I hope this all goes well for the town but this thing is not a ship, have you seen it?

I'll still be having a look down to the 'fairly average sized yacht race 2010' but I fear they are overselling this. What next Darwin paddling in on a Canoe with a sail to claim second place?

Also how is it a race, it's doesn't even start until Saturday I‘m no expert but these Spaniards have pissed it? Are these fookers cheating? Have they got a giant mural of a tall ship that they clag on to the side whilst at sea mixing with the proper ones then whip it off as they disappear into the distance? Surely winning by two days is making things a little obvious to the relevant authorities?

Load of fucking shit. Wish i had the week off work so i could get out of this shithole and avoid it all.

The town came to a practical stand still because they closed the bottom of park road while some scruff threatened to jump. Imagine what its going to be like in a couple of days with numerous roads closed and an estimated million people coming to town and nowhere to friggin park.

I hope its a great big disaster.

stpid stpid stpid stpid

I can't possibly understand why anyone would want the event to be anything but a huge success.

I hope it goes really well and it makes the town a few quid, whether it will or not is yet to be seen.

Where did you used to park out of interest? Most of the yellow lines I've seen have been in places that most people who live in Hartlepool wouldn't need to park anyway.

Nevermind the football club this whole town is fooked!

Huge event where people can go and have a beer in the street while watching live music and cos a few roads are closed and people will have to walk they get arsey and actually want the thing to go tits up.

Its as bad as the people who are saying the team is doomed before a ball has been kicked.

Fookin Hell -some right miserable gits on here. We've got people coming up to stay in Sedgy from various parts of the Country to gan to the Ships & will be spending money in Hartlepool helping boost the economy creating jobs etc & generally seeing the Town in a positive light.

Nothing but a good thing I would have thought.

Aren't Hartlepool Council predicting a few million quid profit for the town as a result of the Ships?

Few canny bands on "n" all. Cattle & Cain are worth seeing for one.
Mind, Echo & the Bunnymen - are those fookers still going :uhoh:

Enjoy the Ships -It'll be light relief before the season starts

Which roads are actually closed right now?
Which roads being closed during the event will you need to use?

You really do take negatives to a new level

This thread is a microcosm of exactly what is wrong with Hartlepool and why it will always be a small town.

A world class event is brought to the town, last year it was in Valencia, and bringing tens of thousands of tourists to the town all of whom will spend money thus helping the local economy. Some of these people will come back people are spend more money, some might even like it and move a business here or open a branch.

All some of the locals can do is fuck ing whinge.

Why not move to Horden, there are none of these problems there.

..on the subject of the double yellow lines, does the two vertical lines on the kerb above them (which I've never seen before btw) mean you cannot park on the grass verge either?

No, it means the bloke who painted the lines was ratted.

Or it could mean no stopping, I think you can park off the road if you're not blocking the pavement though.

I was thinking the same, then i noticed they were even in places where there was no verge as railings were in place anyway.

Taken from wiki:

Loading restrictions
Loading is allowed on double-yellow lines unless there are also yellow marks on the kerb or at the edge of the carriageway.[1]

A double mark on the kerb indicates that loading is not allowed at any time. A single mark on the kerb indicates that loading is prohibited at time indicated on a nearby sign. Regulations apply every day including Sundays and Bank Holidays unless a nearby sign indicates otherwise. You may stop while passengers board or alight.[2]

Loading and unloading is defined as: 'taking the items to and from the vehicle' but does not cover packing, unpacking or assembly and stopping for a conversation. Stopping to go to the toilet is also not covered. The ban also covers pavements and verges beside the marked section of road.[2]

I like that stipulation:- "stopping for a conversation" is'nt covered, might drive down, park on the doubles and when challenged state:- I've just stopped for a conversation.......okay, "who with"...... would probably follow, "our lass, in the passenger seat" I'll retort.

P.S ...are the smilies not working btw?, havent worked for me all day.

He was very obviously fishing and it was quite a funny thread until people started getting OTT and abusive.

Tree is almost a parody of the bloke who used to post on Rivals, you know what you are going to get from him!

He probably is a joyless miserable fooker (see that is how you get away with abuse, be subtle and indirect) but he knows it and plays on the fact. It’s what is expected of him.

I have found in life if you either ignore or agree with these people, they spontaneously combust. These people actually exist at Vic, loads of them, Tree represents every one of their bitter, twisted, unloved faces (see again I didn’t directly say it about him).
