Does anybody know how many tickets Leeds have been given for Saturday? Says on official site that we can only buy tickets for Cyril Knowles and Town end.

I'm not sure but a mate has been down to the club shop this morning and there is hell on.
Apparently fans are going mad that Leeds have been given the millhouse side!!!
I'm in agreement. I cant believe that we are giving some of the worst supporters in the country 3000 tickets and basically a free reign of the ground.
There's going to be absolute hell on. Thousands of Leeds fans, boozed up, not only in the ground but in the pubs round the ground as well.
All these rumours about pools not having much money to spend could just be true, why else would we give a club like Leeds 3000 places?
Anyone thinking of going have your running shoes on. Its not going to be a pretty day.

I guess I'm missing the problem. We'd be lucky to get 2000 home fans for this game, so why restrict Leeds who have a bigger fan base than us, to just 900 tickets?

So it's 2900 fans with the Leeds fans getting the usual allocation of the Rink End, or possibly something like 5500 fans with Leeds fans getting the Millhouse and Rink End.

Oh hang on, some of them will buy beer in the ground as well, that's going to be bad isn't it? Oh no, we make money from that as well. Nope still can't see the downside.

We've been saying for a while that no one is interested. Why is everyone boarding the outrage bus because Pools are making a few quid out of Leeds? This being the same Leeds who weren't afraid of stitching pools fans up.

Give them 4000 tickets at £40 each for me.

I wouldn't see a problem if it was Norwich or someone similar but come on, its Leeds, look at the reputation they have. Everytime they have been here there's been trouble.
I find it very strange that the police haven't blocked it.

The thing is a lot of their fans will just stay on the drink. The only people making any money will be the bars in the town centre. Will the money we make on the gate cover the police bill for the day?

But The Vic has bars as well. Lets say 3000 Hull fans come, a couple of hundred will be on the drink all day, that York report says there trouble makers numbered just 50. Didn't the councillor get his knickers in a twist, his fellows councillors couldn't get in for a council meeting, an absolute disgrace, how dare these scum come into Cathedral city York and drink in a pub.

There was three arrests, two Leeds fans and one York City fan, can't have been that bad can it?

The rest will pay their ticket money, have a couple of pints and a pie, then they'll get in the buses and cars and toddle off home.

Yes the policing bill will be large, but there's no way it will exceed the money Pools will make from the game.

If it's policed correctly and buses are taken straight to the ground so their supporters can only buy their beer from Pools and not in the town centre then the club will make more from the game than they pay for the police bill.

I can't see the problem. Ok, they're taking our stand off us so for that reason I won't go but that's my choice, and it's only a friendly so if Pools can make some money from it then fair enough. So long as it doesn't set a precedent for them giving away fans our stands for league or cup games then let them get on with it.

I won't be going, if away fans take preference over home fans then the club can fuck off if they want my money.

I have emailed HUFC in a more constructive manner to let them know this, not that it will be listened to.

I can see the logic in attempting to make as much money from the game as possible.

But what I can't understand is that they give Leeds fans the Mill House stand.

Logic says they should give them the CK stand (IMHO)

This can keep Leeds fans on one side of the ground and Pools fans on the other. When they then vacate the ground they not going into an area where home fans will be. Or will home fans have to enter and exit on to Clarence Road. Surely having coaches on Clarence Road to take them straight back is more logical than having them free on other side ground to go as and where they want.

Now putting my "conspiracy" theory head on, could it be a case of someone thinking,

"we can't have Leeds fans in the CK as that will mean them mixing with the corporate fans for the day."

Giving them the Mill House side is tempting fate and leading to possible trouble. I said a while ago that I wasn't going to this game because from what I'd been told and actually seen (on Gateshead boards) we were playing them on that day, I haven't had anyone actually prove to me that that was in fact incorrect.

Now whether I went come 1 pm (ish) Saturday is now not even debatable. Having to mix with their fans was bad enough at their place, being barged in to etc, I don't want it at a home game. So I will miss this one and maybe go to Garforth on Tuesday (I think I need to check) and York a week Saturday.

5000 fans at £10 a go is not exactly a lot of money to Pools when we lose a reportedly £1 Million a year.

And that's before the Police bill is deducted. Yes they will buy beer/food etc in the ground, but in my opinion, the negatives that can happen outweigh the positives.

If they were to sell out your looking at 4413 thick idiotic Leeds fans being there of which 3449 will occupy the Mill House side.

Not forgetting the more idiotic ones who will enter through the wrong turnstiles and end up in the Town End.

This is a mistake and I'm sure Pools can be charged by the FA/FL for trouble inside the ground even in friendlies, if it happens.

The fine, police bill and replacing things like broken seats etc could out-weigh whatever is made on the day.

The only alternative I can think of Bob is that they could be planning to get all the Leeds fans out at the North gate on the Mill house side then filter then all towards Clarence Road.

Yes but the police then need to get a possible 4000 Leeds fans to coaches etc.

Where do they intend to park them ????????

Im sure the car park wont be able to take that many ,or do they intend to close it to people who are using it for the town/ bowls club etc.

I still think it's not been very well thought out. If it was any other team, then I wouldn't have the fears( if that's the right word) I have.

Hope I wrong and it goes off peacefully. Less than evens says it soesn't

Surely if there's trouble outside the ground that's got nothing to do with Pools.

The Police will have to be informed off the football clubs plans for the game, they must have agreed to them, as long as the 90 minutes of football starts and finishes without any bother inside the the Vic that's fine. What happens outside the boundary of the Vic is the polices problem. We pay enough bloody money for them to police games like this, let them earn it.

are you seriously suggesting leeds will bring 4000 fans to a fooking pre season friendly ? that would be more than newcastle ffs which is only up the road, and who have a much bigger following, a lot of it in this town.

and following this dumb thinking even further, if they did bring 4000 and you restricted them to the rink end or the cyril , do you not think the ones that couldnt fit in wouldnt just go in whichever part of the ground they wanted anyway ?

there was loads of them in the millhouse side of the ground when it was all-ticket, and not just the ones that ran across the pitch, they were sat all around us in the seats at both league games. if pools cant segregate fans for a league match that is all ticket they have zero chance for a friendly.

given hardly any pools fans will be going anyway by the sounds of things they may as well have given us the rink end and leeds the rest of the ground.

as for all this trouble, if its gonna kick off i very much doubt it will happen in or around the ground .

No I'm not seriously suggesting that they'll bring 4000, I'm saying the amount of ground they're handing over to Leeds fans can reach 4000+, that,s the amount of space available in the Rink End and Mill House seats/terracing. Which means the possibility is there. They could have given them the town end only (1775 tickets [entry Clarence Road only]) and that would have probably been enough space for the number of fans. Why give them 2 ends if Pools aren't hoping to fill most of it.And give the possibility of trouble around/in the ground.

Now they're saying you can buy tickets on the day at the turnstiles.
So does that mean that any Leeds fans can just pay at the gate for say the Town End?????????

Its Gonna be very interesting come Saturday afternoon.

No thanks from me.

I had a look at the Leeds official site and they aren't even selling tickets so who knows how many will come up. If the club are making provision for more Leeds fans perhaps they should ask Leeds to advertise the fact. I hope we haven't agreed to pay Leeds a fee for coming.

woody seemed to think they were going to bring a few based on the fact they normally take a load to their northern friendly. With them getting promoted, a few new signings and it only being an hour up the road they'll hopefully bring a few.

If we make a tenner out of this it's better than fck all.

League Cup last year was on the tele wasn't it? Am sure there were 2-2.5k there but I could be wrong. That was tuesday night and on the box so it is apparent that Leeds fans don't mind travelling, whether they'll bother with this friendly remains to be seen.
