Cracking article!!

How great would it be if Pools adopted such policies.

Agree with everything said...... I recall when at Junior school we had your bog standard P.E. teacher at that time. Someone who put more effort into humiliating those who'd forgot their kit or were totally disinterested, than in teaching you anything of note.

The bloke was a grade A cock, not unlike Brian Glovers character in Kes. Anyway on the one day he was absent a very timid but likeable teacher stood in for him, he had the respect of everyone, and proceeded to spend the full lesson teaching us about football balance, how to kick a ball properly, and how to shield a ball.

...I learnt more off that bloke in one lesson than I had with the other dick in 5 years.

I think this says it all just look at Theo Walcott

“We produce players that are fast, without being quick.

Now that might sound stupid, but I’ve seen plenty of players over here that are lightning fast, but think about as quickly as a snail.

“For example, I worked with Luis Figo for four years and, over 40 metres, you or I could beat him. But you try and beat him over five or ten metres with the ball. He’d throw one shape and we’d all be on our backsides. Deco was the same.

That’s the type of player we don’t produce.

the worrying thing about the type of player we produce, the walcotts, lennons, SWP's, them wingers that are simply quick...

Is that they have not improved at all, lennon and walcott are playing the rough game they were at 17, quick as a flash but no end product, whatever training they are doing it just does not seem to be working at all.

The most creative england central midfielders just get over looked, players that are good on the ball, the likes of carrick, cole, huddlestone and milner, who just have summit extra about them, either get over looked or pushed out wide.

In much younger days playing rugby league at semi-pro level we had a ballet coach brought in. I kid you not.WTF sctatchinghead sctatchinghead we thought.
Got taught strength & balance i.e.combining the two & we ripped teams apart.

Teams took the pizz when they heard about the ballet -they didn't when we beat them.

Spry helped Porto conquer some of the best European competition around.

Bobby was as usual way ahead of his time in using people like Spry ; just don't expect the same from Mick Wadsworth
