The worst World cup I have ever witnessed but where it has scored is the fact that the sub standard of refereeing has been highlighted and hopefully the authorities will now finally accept that, in modern football, the referees need help.
Howard Webb blew it tonight...........mistake after mistake.........allowing the Dutch to kick everything above grass culminating in missing two deflections and a blatant block.

I'm bloody relieved its all over.

He should have sent off De Jong and he'll realise that when he sees it replayed, at real time though he probably didn't realise the intent. Considering the amount of cards he had out though you can't say he didn't attempt to clampdown.

I don't think he ignored many if any bookable fouls in all honesty though Robben should have been dismissed for kicking the ball away.

The way the players played and behaved I don't think Webb did a bad job overall, there was the odd mistakes but many referees would have seen that game spiral out of control.

I think he realised how psyched up for this game the players were and cut them some slackto start with. The karate kick was a straight red but I don't think he seen it properly. Other than that he got most decisions right. A shit load of cards though. 9 yellows including a double resulting in a red card. Spain had 5.

Overall I think he did ok.

Well thats two sending offs he missed according to your reckoning.......................kinda proves my point.
I think he had a very poor game but everyone sees it differently.

Howard Webb was hopeless, but he'll be back in the premier league next season giving Man Utd every decision possible... Maybe it is time that football became a stop start game like rugby, american football etc to ensure that decisions are correct especially in a world cup....

He set a world record for cards so hardly a laid back game.. Personally I thought he done ok (but what do I know) and he was possibly just unsighted for De Jong's Cantona attack..
