Can we arrange a meeting to get things started for this so we can put faces to names etc. We probably all know each other by sight but I don't know of any of you by the handles except maybe pool power and chip fireball. This would also be a good chance to explore ideas, get a formal agenda / manifesto started and also get some cash together to form the party and elect officers.

Time is running out and if we don't want to be seen as a talking shop then we need to get sorted asap in my humble oppinion.

For the first meeting it might be best in a private room or someones house (not mine sadly, got builders in) but somewhere were we can vet people who can listen to what is said so as nothing gets back to the labour goons before we want it to.

Thoughts anyone?

Just a thought, how about a public meeting?

Get the mail to publicise it (& maybe the matchday programme - Russ owes us a favour, we did give him 5 grand!!!)

Local political party aiming to fight the hospital closure etc.

May solve the candidate problem if the meeting is handled right

Bit of rabble rousing

It were a long time ago but yup I was snoopy in 1979 /80 . 5ft firestick on the back of a triumph dolly and then a k40 mag on the roof of a mini. Add to that a 30ft ariel on the roof of a house in mayfair street......

Around the same time as pink panther who had an ice cream van.... halcion days....

Anyway, back to the politics...

I still think we should be totally unseen before we are set up as a party because then as a registered party we can be "local political party fights for hospital / club / kids etc as opposed to a "wanna be political party fights for hospital / club / kids ...."

As an established ( i.e. registered ) party I think it would give us more clout and more worry power against the old guard parties. Those that have been in local politics long enough will have seen wanna be parties come and go many times over. If we are to make a stand and an impression then become registered and then we could court the media as a "political party".

By having a small candidate list as we currently have could be the focal point of a public awareness campaign. In this awareness campaign we could put across our policies and list the seats already taken, why those particular candidates are standing and also that we want other like minded people to stand in other wards.....if interested please phone.....blardy blardy blah

We get the rebel rousing, the appeal for candidates and a publicity drive / worry the elected candidates all in one big splash.

This can then be followed up with exposure in the nationals and on tv such as sky news / local tv ( they would follow ) cashing in on the monkey for a mayor theme but now the chimps are joining the tea party of local politics or something along those lines......Just athought.

Thursday is the first of February and the walsall game is the 10th will this be enough time to have the first meeting get the cash together and get the party registered ?

We could then launch poolie pride the political party on the pitch (assuming pools are willing) at the walsall game and as such open up the invitation for more candidates.

I need to speak with both Russ and Mr Hodcroft ( or send a letter to Mr H ) this week so can I sound out these two gents for any support that we might expect etc? Nothing official just hypotheticals etc as we haven't been registered and all that but just to gauge some feeling of the club etc.

I know russ very well and would be confident of his help but if anyone has reservations then say so.

I'll chuck my tenner in to form the party. I think that it might be worth considering staying away from the football side of things, there are many more important issues to resolve, besides, I think that subject may well be on the way to being sorted.
