The opening games have been mostly tight and tense apart from Germany's thrashing of the Aussies.

I have to say it was an absolute joy watching Germany the other night - it was probably the best performance of the tournament so far.

Some teams have also been the architects of their own downfall. Denmark hardly got into the game today against the Dutch. Serbia gifted Ghana a win yesterday. If Rob Green hadn't made that horrenous mistake against the US after what was, on the whole, a sound performance, we would have beaten the Americans.

Some teams like South Africa and Italy have not been organised at the back during their openers.

The worst game I have seen so far was Uruguay vs. France - the French need to get their flair back because if they play like they did on Friday in the coming games, they won't even qualify for the next round.

If England had beat them 4-0 people would be saying "Yes but the Aussie's are past it, and anyway they were down to 10 men" But Germany do they're fantastic

I think Germany have a decent team but people got carried away because they won 4-0 :shock:

Yes the group stages are usually cagey....first couple in each group....but this is even beyond that!!!! confised

The only team to score more than 2 goals are Germany....and they are renowned as slow starters!!!! confised

That New Zeland V Slovakia game earlier wasn't cagey it was just plain shite, the standard was Northern League! I was pleased when New Zealand scored as the match didn't deserve a winner.
