John Honour was hailed as the "new McGovern", mostly because he looked and moved just like him.
I'd never heard of him until I saw him make his first team debut, and it's true I thought "what the fook is McGovern doing back here?"
(For the record I thought J McG was nowt special at Pools.)

thats the squad the season I first saw pools!! can't remember us haveing 2 strips...or maybe we didn't have one full one so we had to borrow some ac milan strips from a local pub team for the photo?
me dad still won't have a word said against len ashurst"saved this club that lad"

clubs back then as now needed a change strip for the games against opposition with a similar kit

but with the limited media coverage back then you wouldnt have seen a lot of pics
