Who owns that shithole. All the windows at the front are smashed, there's graffiti on the side and old rusty railings surrounding the front.

The paths inside are all strewn with weeds and the kiosk at the front of it has the side door missing and it's so full of shite a tramp wouldn't take refuge there.
Also does Barry Wilkie still own the place next door?
That doesn't fare much better.
How the council can allow these buildings to stay like this???
It's a foooking disgrace.

in a prime area where hundreds of people go during a hot day.

The lack of investment in a seaside resort along this section of the north east coast has always baffled me.
Redcar, Seaton and Crimdon have plenty of potential for people to go for the day out - but there's nowt there!!!!!

Mick, seatons been jam packed saturday and sunday, the place is bang in the middle of all the amenities.
Its shocking that they haven't even boarded the place up, there's glass all over the place. The council and whoever owns the other place need to get their finger out and sort it out.
And dont get me started on Crown House

In all seriousness what would you propose??

Iv'e thought about this myself and I honestly can't think of anything else to put there that has not already been tried.

I agree its a shit tip, but lets be honest, the seaside coasts of Redcar and Hartlepool are hardly the crowd pullers they were 60 years ago. Even if they had the whole of Seaton Rennovated, we get about 30 days of decent weather a year, its just not going to work anymore.

As I said they could at least board it up.
The kiosk at the front has had the door missing for at least 2 months not, you can see right inside and its full of shit, discarded cans, bottles, chairs etc...
Surely they can get onto the owner of the place next to the longscar and get them to tidy it up.
As for the Longscar, isn't it owned by the council?
You have to see it to believe it.
Its no surprise that David Young who owns the chippy down there lost his seat on the council recently.

owned by the bros wilkinson, before their bitter split as far as i recall. may well be wrong.

However, look at the Odeon, 5th Ave and LOngscar....all wilkie's owned before they went their own seperate ways. they should be made to clean or clear site. saying that tho i did see some workies at the odeon earlier but they may just have been pest control.

raise it on http://www.high-tax-hartlepool.co.uk/ they'll tell you, it's like an alternative bunker at times. some interesting stuff.

Fact is Longscar hall on the front in old days was a nice looking building. I remember it as a kid and there was nothing wrong with it.

I'm not sure who owns it but once they started to add the American bits and pieces on it, the fish shop/burger place etc it went downhill rapidly. Who ever owns it should be made to tidy it up.To make it worse they added the pubs coasters etc, and killed the old building ,in my opinion.

Didn't it actually make the Mayors grot list at one time so the council know about it. The fact it's in the middle, of Seaton, almost, where people visit makes it worse.

As stated it's not owned by the council, but I think that the council played the most significant part in ensuring that it ended up derelict as I believe that they insisted in the planning permission that there couldn't be any windows, outdoor seats etc facing the sea. stpid

But surely the council can enforce action to ensure it looks half decent and that health and safety is covered.
Honestly it wouldn't look out of place in the middle of Beirut!!!

I agree, it's a mess.

The best thing to do would be to just knock it down and build something better there. I could knock them a quick design up, I'm sure that between us on The Bunker we can suggest the best thing for that site.

Totally agree, It looks a right mess. All the windows smashed, glass everywhere. A complete eyesore, You'd have thought just doing it up would be a priority ahead of the tallships. By doing it up I mean by potentially bording up the windows or anything of that sort. Sad to see it in such a state really

Well i'm assuming the mayor still reads this board, hopefully something will get done in the next couple of days. If not i'll get onto the respective councillors for seaton and see what they will do.

It must be getting on for two years when our Honoury Mayor told the owners of this eyesore, if they didn't tidy the place up, it would be pulled down (Allegedly). It's a filthy mess. All he's interested in is the bloody Tall Ships. It will last a few days, then it will be all over, but all the filth and scruffy buildings will still be there in Seaton. It would be interesting to know how long it has been since he had a look round the place.

It was one of the "Grot Spots" highlighted by the mayor 2 years ago.
It's true all these people are interested in is the tall ships.
If I had it my way I'd cancel it and spend the money it's going to cost improving the town.

I cant believe this but I am in agreement with lightning tree for the first time, seaton and esp. that building is a disgrace my folks live near the schooner and I hate passing that building on the front. The tall ships will bring people and money to the town for a couple of days but why not do up these areas that will last 10-15years bringing more money into the town as a whole.

It still boggles the mind why the council didnt allow a casino at the jacksons landing for the tall ships.

I have to agree the place is a complete eye sore. It seems the council are lacking the ability to see the big picture. Seaton could be a superb place if the people who made the decisions had the right vision. Tourist would pour in with some investment

People always say "oh why would anyone come to Hartlepool and Seaton", but yet people go to Rhyll and other seaside places because there is stuff to do. Also you dont realise how great it is living near the sea and having a beach on your door step until you live away from one.

Why do people from London go to Margate, Southend and Brighton because the beach is a big draw in the summer particularly now when people are spending less money, but there are things to do at these places apart from playing crap ten-pin bowling and the paddeling pool what is there to do at seaton?

When I was a nipper they used to have crazy golf / pitch and put near the clock, I might be going mad here but wasnt there an amusement thing over the sandy car park as well?

You go to Seaton when the Sun is out and you can't get moved even on a winters day at he weekend its quite full.. The queue for the chip shop was 45 minutes at the weekend! You don't need visitor attractions when you have one of the best beaches in the area. The best thing they could do with the longscar would be to flatten it and make a bigger car park! It has none of the "charm" of the rest of the front and has been a white elephant for years.

Come on council sort it out!

Seaton councillor had letter in the Mail tonight saying almost what most on here have said, that it's a disgrace and if nothing done then a Compulsory Purchase Order should be placed on it.
