Just shows what I always thought that owning a football club is just a big tax fiddle. Know wonder HMRC come down on clubs hard when they don't pay VAT etc.

Whilst appearing to be legal just think of how lower your personal taxation could be if all these tax dodging businesses (legal or otherwise) actually paid into the system and also how that would benefit the country.

Of course some people think dodging the tax man is ok but then they think hospitals grown on trees! stpid

then again, the flip side is a lot of those businesses would then pull out of all of their operations here. Yes they are avoiding tax, but the other side would be catastrophic if they upped sticks completely.
The government are not as powerful as corporations and they have to basically let them get away with it or else!!!!

I agree, in a way. But I reserve the right to say things as they are, ie that the companies involved are doing very well out of the situation and don't therefore earn the right to be treated as if they were acting altruistically.

Is that diplomatic enough for everyone?

A complete and utter non-story. Shite journalism of the highest order.

The club doesn't pay any less tax to the UK goverment by being part of this structure.

Given that we always make a loss I can't see that the taxman in the UK is losing out.

Am I the only one who gets irritated EVERY time I read an article from The Times?

It's worse than The Star but with the smarmy we're upper class bollocks.

Far be it from me to support the Times, but how is this 'shite journalism'? sctatchinghead

It doesn't say anything more than that the Inland Revenue are investigating the position.

Pools seem to be registered in the British Virgin Islands.
Thats a long way offshore from Hartlepool Bay.

Ps. Is that Branson character buying up islands now?

I love his pickle mind.
