I can't believe he said that. If he did the media would jump on that comment and he should stand down immediately.

Of course then he would come back and say his comments were taken the wrong way.

What a right fool that bloke is, unskilled etc I know loads of people who are skilled and have very good jobs but dont know their arse from their elbow.

A girl who works in my local part-time on a night asked the following question when talking about religion:

"you know nuns, well if they arn't aloud to have sex how come there are so many of them?"

Whats her day time job infant school teacher!

Harder to claim being misquoted if it's a radio interview though.

It may not. That's why I'll only believe that he said it if I hear it.

What makes you think that it doesn't though?

Because even if he really believed garlands staff are uneductated he wouldn't be daft enough to say it in public.
Maybe people are just looking for someone to blame.

Brilliant generalisation.

How do you explain your boy's "bigoted" comments caught on tape the other week?

He didn't say it on this interview broadcast at about 6:15 this morning, which was recorded yesterday. About 13:00 mins in if anyone wants to check it.

He was right though, she was a bigot, even if she wasn't she looked like the kind of old dear who still called 'darkies' nignogs and washed her change when the black bus conductor gave her money back

I also stand by my comment that Gordon Brown should of kicked her teeth out

Chip, there is no legal requirement to give you a letter either appointing you to a job or sacking you from it. Good practice dictates that you do it for the protection of both parties but the law doesn't insist on it.

Non of them knock on doors now to whip up support, they're too frightened in case they get lumbered with some bored old lady who'll take up 2 hours of their time waffling on about fup-all.

I very much doubt Alan Wright thought he would walk it.... Fair play to Iain Wright though - he won the election but he has been an MP for a decent run now so it is time for him to deliver.....

i suspect mr i got his information via the same channels i did.

what was very interesting was wright pointing out how unusual it is for administrators to walk in and just send people to the dole queue and close the gaff down almost immediately, without trying to find a buyer or save some jobs. there was certainly enough work to save one of the 3 sites imho.

something about the whole issue isnt right. we were told we would be getting letters sent in mondays post but nothing has arrived.

as it stands i have absolutely nothing whatsoever in writing telling me i am out of a job or what my legal position is. like most others i know worked there ive spent an hour on the phone to job centre plus and they are wanting p45's, proof in writing ive been made redundant, info about payment in lieu im getting and ive got jack shit to give em.

the administrators for instance said we had all been paid up till friday so werent due any more wages but loads of people had worked saturday, sunday, and monday. garlands also dont pay you for the first week you work there. they hold this money as a deposit against the door fob, headset and cost of training. nobody knows if we are getting that refunded .

in fact the complete lack of information is gobsmacking.

Who was it you got this non-story from then?

Was a local council worker on an income of over 20k PA?
