It's no great surprise though is it, Keane did sign O'Donovan for Sunderland.

he ticks all the boxes really, keanes already signed him once and he wont cost him a penny to bring in, thus minimising the risk.

Oh and hes irish, keane has signed 56,000 irish players in his time as manager of sunderland and ipswich.

One box he doesn't tick is a proven abilllity to score goals at championship level.

He played 17 times for sunderland and 12 times for Blackpool (on loan), and i'm pretty certain he didn't score a goal.

Bearing in mind Keane is under pressure to produce the goods this season, i feel he may go for proven championship strikers. He could sign O Donovan for back up, but im pretty sure Roy has already stated he wants first team football.
