never understood why he was slagged off so much, never mind. doing well now, pleased for him

Our fans slag everyone off.
I don't remember, aside from Cooper, the last time they liked a manager.

Danny Wilson was a great manager, that showed in his first season here. After that I'm not sure his heart was in it but he was a good bloke. Turner is a good bloke and his heart is in it but sadly he hasn't got half the ability of Danny Wilson...

Absolutely delighted for Wilson. He was probably one of the best managers we ever had and there really was no need to get rid of him when he did.

That doesn't mean to say however that I'm not a fan of Turner.

He deserves to be managing a side in the Championship as well.

Congrats Danny. clappp clappp clappp

The look on his face last night said to me, "right I've just got to get them through the final, and then I can line up my next job".

Hodcroft when interviewing Turner said 'how can we get you to manage a team in the championship' Turner's reply was 'start them off in the premiership' rolfl

Turner to manage in the Championship stpid Do you actually no anything about football? Any idiot knows he is tactically inept and picks people he likes and not on form.

Clueless

The tactical awareness issue is subjective, it was the other comment regarding how he picks the team that I was mainly referring to.

I was talking about Danny Wilson actually, not Chris Turner.

That's OK.

I am a fan of Turner, but I still think we never should have got rid of Wilson at the time.

Wilson told Pools that he wanted permission to talk to Swindon about their manager's job by all accounts, so once he did that then Pools were well right to tell him to sling his hook as far as I'm concerned regardless of the fact that he was also doing a bit of a shit job here.

No, I'm afraid I have to disagree with you there. As long as Wilson asked us permission first before talking to Swindon, then that is fine by me.

By the way, under him, we were League Two Runners-Up in 2007. That's hardly an awful job now, is it?

With the squad we had we should've walked that league in 2007, not finished runners-up.

And once he asked to be away then his commitment is questionable for me so he needs off-hiring, especially asking for permission to talk to another team in our league. I would've been more understanding had he been in with a chance of getting the job at somewhere like Arsenal, Birmingham or even the likes of Derby, but Swindon? Nah, he had to go.

Unfortunately it was us not beating Rochdale away and Bristol Rovers at home that lost us to the title.

Bristol Rovers also needed a win that day to get in the play-offs.

If we'd beat Rochdale, we would have won the League that day.

A wonder goal from Walsall in the last minute at Swindon on the final day didn't help either.

But he wouldn't be our manager if he was and we might get someone who knows what they are doing

Ripper- as your footnote says much of what you say isn't absolute fact. This stuff about Wilson is absolutely way off.
Wilson was approached by the Robins AFTER he left Pools. Danny has said so himself/Swindon Town have said so but the usual Poolie rumour mill persists in it's usual ill-informed way.

We didn't step aside to let him talk to another club.
If you can verify your "by all accounts" do so.
I suspect not. Nobody on this board ever has done.

We let Wilson go. He didn't walk purely of his own accord.

If you're that bothered then trawl back through the posts when he got the bullet at Pools and you'll see that the first time I told you of this was BEFORE there was any talk of him taking over at Swindon.

Hope that helps.

Swindon announced they were chasing a manager who had managed a Prem club, who was already employed at that time. Lo and behold a week or so later DW and Pools part ways. Coincidence?

Anyway, why are we bothering to have this debate all over again? It was in the past, we are stuck with the useless fat one until he croaks. end of.

Unfortunately, I think this debate about what happened when Wilson left will not stop because it was never confirmed by the Club as to the exact reason why Wilson left.

I don't think we'll ever know.
