There seems to be a little bit of doom and gloom amongst a few people on here, but would seeing a starting line-up like this in August cheer you up a little and keep you away from the pills and sharp objects?

GK Flinders
RB Austin
LB NEW SIGNING
CB Liddle
CB Hartley / Collins / NEW SIGNING
RM McSweeney
LM Monkhouse (motivated to give a shit)
CM Gamble (refreshed after a proper break)
CM NEW SIGNING
CF Boyd (fit and raring to go)
CF Brown

If it would surely that means that we're only two or three good signings off having a competitive team and not as submerged in the brown stuff as some of you seem to be making out?

PS. If you reply with anything along the lines of "Not with Turner as manager" or similar then you're a prick.

I reckon Antony Sweeney will be like a new signing next season.. even though he is shit. Keeping the trend of the rest of turners new signings then.

Agree that we should have a good starting 11 but who is there to come in and do a job following injury and bad form couldnt this cause the team to get complacent.

I have to say though that we cant be as bad as last season and think we will finish mid table or at a push the play-offs. I mean look at Blackpool this season and they were favourites to go down

Excellent logic.... They have a good manager and a decent squad of players. We have neither.

Maybe we need to get cuter with regards using the loan system to cover for injury or bad form? Maybe the success of Roy O'Donovan will persuade the management of this? Can we as a club keep 20+ first team standard players happy (or afford them) on a just-in-case basis or would we be better off aiming at a good quality core squad of about 16 and them supplementing them with temporary signings as and when required?

Is that the same quality players they had last year when they only just survived?

Finishing 10points clear of relegation is hardly 'just' surviving..

But they were favourites to go down and have basically the same squad so whats the difference?

Ian Holloway, a manager who knows what hes doing and how to motivate players/supporters.. plus Charlie Adam.

I thought that would of been pretty obvious?

THE MANAGER!!!

With a decent manager last season we would have finished top half imo. Were only a couple of players off a great team but the manager is holding us back and thats whats so friggin frustrating!!

A strong first 11 plus maybe 4 or 5 others to push for places. Keep the starting XI on their toes and also for cover as injury and suspensions kick in. I think that on paper our main 14-15 players are decent enough for a play off push. Consistency and motivation are the biggest problems.
