There are many many cases of servicemen being beaten up by gangs of locals. It's nothing new and no suprise. Everyone on here who has ever put on the uniform will have stories of people minding their own business and getting jumped on by a few locals. Not in the case by the look of it but it often comes down to jealousy, Guys get back from operations and have lots of money to spend on the local girls where as the local youths are skint. There are just as many stories of severe retribution.

I'm not suggesting that the forces are well paid, they're not, but theres not much to spend your money on in Afghanistan so when you get back you've got six months untouched wages.

They're at court on the 12th June apparently. Alledgedly justice will be forthcoming either in court of afterwards.

The word is that everyone in the ex-para community has been reigned in until after the trial. I have no doubt whatsoever that these guys will be called to account at some stage.
