Well yet another fuck up by a club ran like a joke and the most serious yet. Heads should roll by whoever is at fault but i bet they wont.

I may be in the minority but I think the fine for Liddle is harsh. The guy is paid to play football for the club, i wasnt aware players were supposed to be keeping track of their bookings etc themselves? Surely they have enough to do than worry about something which in my opinion should be sorted by the club?

I know what you mean, but I reckon if you asked any player how many goals they had scored that season, they could tell you straight away. In fact, I bet they could tell you how many career goals that they've scored at the drop of a hat.

If people on messageboards knew he was on so many bookings, you'd think the player himself would know.

Perhaps Liddle knew he had 10 bookings but just thought the club would sort his suspension out?

Are the players supposed to approach the club everytime they get X amount of bookings? Surely their job is to kick the ball around, not do their own admin work

I think people at the club would rather launch ridiculously pointless appeals than admit any culpability.

We lose it's the players fault.

We struggle at home, it's the people paying good money's fault.

We break the rules, it's the player, FA, and Football Leagues fault.

Nobody’s head will roll, and the club 'will have nothing further to say on the matter.'

Nah.

He should have been aware that he was on so many bookings.

Footballers should know the rules. They're getting paid enough.

I'm not saying the administrators weren't to blame. Bottom line is, if people were doing the jobs that they are being paid to do, we wouldn't be in this embarrasing mess.

What I am saying is that maybe he knew he had 10 bookings and knew he had a suspension but because the club hadn't said anything he just presumed he was eligible.

The rule only changed this season, the suspension used to kick in after 7 days for bookings. Last season if you picked up your fifth on the Saturday you could have played on the Monday but missed the following Saturday. It is not his job to know that.

Can you imagine top flight clubs leaving imbeciles like John Terry and Craig Bellamy to tot up bookings!!?

He'd have to be pretty stupid if that's the case.

Look at it this way, even if he wasn't keeping count of his bookings, he must have suspected that he was approaching a ban and should have checked. If your scenario did happen, then there should be severe ramifications for the player.

He'd have to be pretty stupid that he didn't realise the rules has changed in the summer?

Gary Liddle is employed as a footballer for the club, he shouldn't have to worry about the admin side of things, there are enough pen pushers doing fck all at the club who should be looking after these kind of things.

Playing cricket, might field with my mobile, or request the scorer to put the Pools score on the scorebox*

*Yes, I have done both before

I disagree. It is their job to know that.

If I was banned from driving, but jumped into my company car and crashed it, i'd expect the sht to hit the fan.

That's whats happened here. The sht has hit the fan(s)

Then you'd be breaking the law, not playing in game of football you weren't meant to be

Unless you have to be conivcted in court of being booked ten times!

Oh do so fuck right off!

Football players are notoriously thick. They can't, nor should they be trusted to sort out disciplinary administration.

This is 100% the fault of Pools management and admin staff.

That is a truly awful comparison.

It would be the company's responsibility to ensure you had a eligible license before driving the vehicle surely?

There's no need to resort to abuse mate. You're making yourself look silly.

I'm not saying the players should know all of the administrative side of the club, but they should know how many bookings they're on.

Are you saying players are so stupid they can't count to ten?

One of the posts suggested that the player knew but left it to the club to sort.
My example was meant to suggest that an employee should know if he's in the wrong.

Pools statement said Liddle thought he had 9 bookings.

Aye, wrong target. I am seriously pissed off with Pools tonight and even the cats had several kickings.

No worries. Emotions are high. It's understandable. :coool:

It'll be 10 times worse on Saturday at 5pm if the worst happens though.

Why???? sctatchinghead

I'm sorry but surely someone at the Club is employed to do just that and tell HIM....not the player to work it out for him/herself!!!! confised
