I think it was Cloughie who once said that if the chairman can't appoint a decent manager and ends up sacking them one after the other - then is he going to sack himself as well?

Football is one of the few professions where the people doing the hiring and firing actually know very little about the game itself - and who is competent, and who isn't.

Most industries have people at the top with expertise in that field - football isn't like that

I see Colin Cooper and Stephen Pears have also been relieved of their duties. Always thought Cooper would have made a decent Manager, seems knowledgable about the game when interviewed.
