nothing to add to the ratings but surely everyone in the away end could see that a change was needed in order to push on for the second goal, except one of course, until it was too late banghead

Oh and thanks to whoever it was that picked up my shades that I dropped on the way into the bogs at the Saddlers club. I think I said thank you at the time but i'd had a few and can't remember :uhoh:

I thought Hartley was really poor yesterday. I've defended him a lot this season as I think a fair amount of criticism has been unfair and bordering on abuse but there was no hiding from this one. I don't think 3 out of 10 is unfair. He was clueless for the second goal.

There was one point in the second half where Humphreys had the ball with the defenders to run at but he had neither the inclination, energy or speed to do so and it fizzled away to nothing. I think if someone like Jones was on (2-1 down, half an hour left), then pressure could have been put on the defence. Unfortunately, Turner's complete reluctance to try to change the game cost us dear and the chance wasn't taken until it was too late.

I was saying to Bramstein that it didn't matter if we'd lost by 3 or 4 so why not go for it? Fans in the crowd can see this so why can't Turner? Daft!

Another Bunkerite in attendance was Mr Thornley.

Ratings?

They were all cack. It was two shite teams and we were the shiter of the two. Fking embarrassing.

Flinders- 6
Austin- 5
Hartley- 2
Collins- 3
Liddle- 4
McSweeney- 5
Humphreys- 3
Gamble- 4
Monkhouse- 3
O'Donovan- 5
Brown- 4

It must be against Turner's rules to change things before we're out of the game. I can see now the frustration that's been expressed by people who've been attending away games on a regular basis this season.

Sorry, to miss you, too, MJ. We were hovering around Mr PIN because he'd asked us about the Tranmere result and the bairn was looking it up in her phone. Many moments later....bairn having no success in her search, Mr PIN getting edgy, bits of tumbleweed drifting round the car-park etc etc .......then someone else appears and announces Tranmere result with no trouble at all....

Anyway, nice to see Elvis. if I'd known no-one else was going to kick chip, I'd have done it myself.

sounds like so many away games this season - team there for the taking but inept management preventing it from happening once again.
Surely he won't be in charge next season if Pools somehow survive in the next week or so........................... surely, .... please?

I wasnt at the game (one of only a few by the sounds of it :uhoh: ) but it sounds like we may have to look for a new left back for next season (unless we switch Austin to there) Hartley clearly isnt up to the job. I hoped he would be better as a centre half but he looked pretty poor there too.

We had a similar discussion, the only one I could nominate was Flinders as despite dropping the ball for their centre forward to dive over his hand to try and win a penalty he made one outstanding save and did little else wrong in spite of conceeding three. Nobody else deserved consideration.

Reckon I'll give him more than one game (in which we kept a clean sheet) before I judge Hartley's worth as a centre half. I know that shows unusual patience for a Pools fan, but I think it's only fair.

In addition to Mr Thornley as mentioned above, I also spotted Mr Billingham Poolie in attendance. He looked sick as fk, like the rest of us.

the fact is - Hartley has trained all through his apprenticeship as a centre half - so what's the first thing that happens he comes to Pools? Gets shoved into left back - it only seems to happen here. Rule no 1 in football - get people who specialise in a position then play them in that position!!!! Turner has not shown an ounce of a clue as a manager since 2002, and he ain't going to improve now.
Please may we just get to the end of the season as a League One club and put the gimp back in his previous job, and nowhere near the first team

Triumphantly Yours also in attendance too yesterday (altho doesnt post since then daft fookers tree and grave started   )

WTF was Haslam dropped in the first place for?, I'm not aware he did anything wrong. He comes in at Leyton Orient, we proceed to win 3 out of our next 4 games, only defeat away at Wycombe (was he that bad there?), and he's dropped.

What's all that about?

Usual away performance, we're all getting used to them. Leyton orient was the only oasis in a barren desert that stretches back to the away game at Swindon.
We were all agreed that Turner wouldn't make changes until after their third and sure enough............
Good to see all the bunkerites, spoke with Elvis, Madjohn and Chip.
The highlight of my day however was meeting Tim Gill, son of the legendary John Gill. Tim actually got his dad on the phone so I could speak with Gilly. That was magic. Tim said that his dad's fondest memories were of his time with Pools and how he loved the Poolies especially. They are planning to come to the Vic next season so I am looking forward to that. I never once mentioned the time when one of the hardest men ever to wear a Pools shirt got chased and bitten by a little doggie on the Rec. Honest I didn't !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I was as sick as fk. I remembered why I stopped going away! Like everyone else couldn't understand why we didn't make the changes we did with 30 minutes to go, or brought Haslam on for Hartley at half time.

David made up the quartet in the front seat as we headed back to Loughborough. The plan had been to stay there the night, and clear out and handover Jonny's room this morning. The mood we were all in meant a change of plan and we headed for home as soon as we could. Fish & Chips in Wetherby was the only highlight of the day.

it was quite embarrassing really, because

3) in this instance i hadnt actually done anything wrong. the 2 cartoon spoofs i did were imaginary conversations between 2 of the people from the board who, shall we say, had been rather uncomplimentary about ior. obviously i assumed that once it got to the point where they were alleging russ green ate a kitten at the sportsmans dinner everyone would realise it was a piss-take.

Chip,

I thought the two cartoon spoofs you posted were highly amusing rolfl

I think I’ll introduce myself at Brentford if I can spot you

I didn't think Austin played as well as people are making out, there were times when his positional sense was all over the place and meant Collins was getting sucked out of the centre of defence. His distribution was shite too but I'm prepared to let him off this once. You'd struggle to pick a MOTM from that lot, O'Donovan at a push.
