I had firmly convinced myself that theyre all as bad as each other & apathy gets my vote on May 6th.
I now hear that the the bnp are standing in Hartlepool so I guess Im gonna have to go vote now just so that I have voted against them.
Most of them are as bad as each other but at least they are not hateful racist barstards like the bnp
I hope I catch the feckers coming up my drive,theyll leave with their leaflets rammed up their feckin arse rage

I agree. Also make sure you vote in the Council elections. There's a real danger they could win in Rossmere and Owton Manor. Don't be fooled by their spin. Vote for anyone else keep the Nazi scum out!

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I did not speak out;
As I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I did not speak out;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
As I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I did not speak out;
As I was not a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

I bet they get a few votes in Hartlepool as apart from the high ethinic areas in the country, towns like ours are their bread and butter. People like my aunties and the older generation will vote for them being stuck in a insular prodominantly white working class area, racism is rife.

I am saddened to say i have never seen a black or asian person at Pools and that speaks volumes. Its the same reason why Roy Chubby brown and other comedians of that ilk are popular up here, simple comdey for simple minds.

That of course is the minority in the town and Hope they dont get anymore than about 10 votes.

I have seen quite a few non-white people in the Pools crowd, mostly the away games in London it has to be said. I remember lots of Westie's family used to turn up whenever we played at Walsall too.

I remember going to Lincoln several seasons ago & having a go at a bnp paper seller outside their ground,I gave him some abuse but the police ushered me away & into the ground.
I emailed Lincoln football club to ask if they were aware that their ground was being used to sell bnp paraphernalia,they didnt reply.
Ever since then Ive wanted to see Lincoln relegated.

Hard to believe that anyone accepts their claims to be a normal party when national PR organiser and candidate for Sheffield Mark Collett got nicked for sending death threats to the Fuhrer Nick Griffin. Part of a palace coup organised by the members who think Griffin is too soft on race!

Main parties are full of tossers but I can't imagine Mandelson sending death threats to Brown. On the other hand...

It's been going on since the weekend, there has obviously been panic meetings last weekend and they've come up with the same plan; discredit Clegg. Trouble is that people will see it for what it is and I think & hope that it will backfire dramatically. If Clegg holds it together tonight I think his chances of becoming Prime Minister will become realistic.

What wouldn't I give to see either of the two main parties have to take what was the Liberals benches in parliment.

I've lost faith in the tories, I detest Brown with a passion.

I think you're wrong about Labour, they'll fail to Michael Foot standards. If there is a coalition it'll be a blue and yellow one.

The BNP are preying on the fears and prejudice of those that don't really understand politics, in a White working class town like Hartlepool they stand a scary chance of taking one or two council seats. Dig beneath their stance on immigration and the BNP have no policies worthy of note.

Labour would stand a very good chance if they had a genuine sucessor to brown in the wings but none of them were prepared to challenge him and risk taking the fall at this election, they may have an unpopular figurehead, and have led us into recession, and have lied a shed load but most of that won't matter to their core support.

Cameron is like Blair reborn and his main stance seems to be our party isn't the other main party. Does anyone really want the cuts the Tories are going to bring?

The Clegg party played the PR game in the televised debate fantastically, where they fall down is the lack of experience in power and the fact that they are not going to take a safe seat from either of the other 2 parties. It would also be interesting to know how they would be viewed if the debate was aired on Radio only rather than TV.

UKIP the BNP and all the other nutters don't stand a hope in hell of winning more than the odd few seats. I think a hung parliment would be a bad bad thing especially if it was Red and Blue as they would just spend their whole time fighting, if it is yellow and red I would expect the house of cards to tumble.

Unfortunately the sheep of Hartlepool will return Iain Wright for no other reason that their grandads said they should vote labour. By all means vote for who you like, including Brown/Wright but at least do it because you feel that you should after looking at their policies and their record. FFS don't base it on some pre war ideal.

Agree with that Mr I.

Everyone I have spoken to in this town seem to be voting Labour because they always have or are saying the won't/don't vote because they don't understand or care about the outcome. I am not really convinced by either Wrights credentials as a politician but at least one of them is a decent bloke to sit and have a beer with.

It is sad that nationally there will probably be around a 40% turnout and then the other 60% will still feel they have a right to moan about how shite politicians are.

I think there may well be a good turnout and not particularly for good reasons. Lots of people will want to oust their expenses claiming MPs, others may be angry about anything from the economy to Afghanistan & Iraq.

I don't think people will turnout for positive reasons but I do think they'll turn out.

An increased turnout, positive or negative, gives validity to a poor system.

I can see lots of protest votes being cast and that is where the risk of the likes of UKIP and the BNP picking up seats comes from. Who would have put their beer money on H'Angus winning the Mayoral election?

i think a lot of people look at cameron and see tony blair. i also suspect a lot on the tory right know this probably isnt a great election to win anyway, would love to see cameron lose and be replaced ,and the lib dems and labour having to work together to tackle the huge national debt.

if it all fell apart within 18 months and another election had to be held then the tories would be pretty much be guaranteed a landslide under a new leader.

its actually shaping up to be quite an interesting election.

If they do do that, Chip, then to be honest, they want shooting.

If anyone saw Cameron in the last two debates, they'd know he has been distant.

You're right, this could either be an interesting election or a bit of a letdown.

Do you remember pre-1st term 'breath of fresh air change is good and the thatcher/major era killed us' Tony 'I'm a smug git' Blair? His entire approach was based on being different to the Tories and being a man of the people despite being middle class and a born politician, not too different to the image Cameron has presented for at least the past year.

Clegg has picked up on this but also aimed his focus at the younger voters and the ones that went for Blair in the first place because he knows they won't vote tory on principle.

What we are now presented with as main party leaders is A One eyed scottish moron with little charisma, a history of lies and poor decisions, a heavy disdain for anything Cameron says even if it makes sense, and he is currently running the country without being elected to do so. In the Blue Corner we have a man who will simply say the opposite of whatever Broon says, even if Broon said the sky was blue, and is trying to appeal to the man in the street when the last man in the street he spoke to outside an election campaign was probably the builder taht fitted his parents golden taps. Meanwhile winning the battle of facefook and twatter amongst the kids is smarmy media trained pr god clegg who has popularity through looking younger and fitter not being one of the evil other parties, and because he used some techniques in the 1st televised debate that a used car salesman could have betttered after a month on the job.

Listen to the words they say not how they say them, and for fucks sake don't be sucked in by appearance, if you need to know how much influence that has read up about the Nixon V Kennedy debate in 1960, and then put a pin between the 3 main parties, in truth all of them talk a good fight but once in power they can and in some way will turn their back on some of the promises that helped them into office.
