there';s quite a dank and dodgy smell coming from inside the drum since yesterday..... up to now I've tried the following

- cleaned out the pump suction strainer - the water in there didn't smell at all anyway?
- checked the drain pipe and drain trap - both clear and not smelly either
- cleaned out the powder/softener tray and all the internals including where it slots into the top of the machine - although that didn't seem too bad either.....
-ran the washer on a cycle using that Ace bleach (used for washing clothes) - ended up with foam everywhere and the washer seemed OK after a couple of rinse cycles last night...

BUT now that horrible smell is back inside the drum again!!!!!!

Could there be a dead rodent in there??????????????

So after you've cleaned it out it doesn't smell until you wash your pants?

I had problems with our washing machine about a year ago. There was someone on here who repaired them but I cant remember who it was. Hopefully whoever it was has not jacked in the bunker like a lot of others have.

Try cleaning your outlet pipe on the washer and the pipe that flows into.

Open the door, prise open and look inside the rubber sealing ring around the washer opening (where the door closes onto), this sometimes fills with water and is always difficult to drain. Probably full of black spores and dirty water,

Spot on info, if the seal has bubbled and worn it will need replacing very soon

Should always dry around the rubber seal after every wash, seals can be expensive.

forgot to say - did the inside of the rubber seal as well - it's not that bad either!!!!

Put some towels through but it still doesn't seem any better!!! They don't smell or anything themselves when they come out, and are fine after being tumble dried
