Hello!

Can anyone answer this please? Chris Turner doesn't know, I dont know, do we actually have 11 good players to fill the positions? Im struggling here.....

My team would be something like

A NEW goalkeeper
Austin right back
Cant really entertain the centre halves as good enough, Collins has made many many costly blunders over 2 seasons to warrant a place in a league 1 side hoping to go anywhere but down.
Liddle is a good player, great with a good partner at the back, but would love to see him in midfield again. I fail to see how the door got closed on Cherel after he looked decent in his only appearance, I would give him a run in the team, he cant do any worse than the current blunder boys.
We have no left back, Humps should fill this role for rest of season, Hartley needs to be dropped.
Across the midfield I would have something like...

Mcsweeney/Jones fighting for a slot on the right, both are very hit and miss.

Gamble and Liddle in centre of midfield ( or atleast I think they should be tried paired up )

Monkhouse on left, but he needs to shape up as his form has been woeful since xmas time, if not before.

Boyd and O donovan

So my answer is as clear as mud, except it is obvious to me that we do not have 11 good players

Oh come on MrB, Im not saying he is a bad keeper as I think he is 'ok' but only 2 or 3 mistakes sctatchinghead sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

He has conceded an awful lot of soft goals over the second half of the season!

2 or 3  I would be happy if he only made that amount on Saturday! No really, fair point, maybe he has only looked shaky at times due to the dodgy defence in front of him, im sure the same thing could have been true last season though.....

mistakes being goals that he SHOULD have stopped, rather than goals which MAYBE he MIGHT have done better.

He's a fooking brilliant young keeper.

So you think we need a new keeper and Ritchie should be playing left back?

I have nothing more to add.

If you watch a lot of the goals we've conceded since November, Flinders seems to have palmed a lot of them into the net, whereas earlier in the season he was tipping them past the posts/bar. I'm disappointed because I rate the lad, but I think this has been very noticable, and he has lacked confidence when coming for balls at the edge of the box, which has forced our defenders into panicky mistakes which have proved costly.

He's still young and a better defence infront of him will improve his confidence no end, but to persist without a proper left back and fast, physical centrehalf and expect to challenge in the top half of the table is quite frankly foolhardy.

Yes I certainly do think we need ANOTHER keeper, not as a replacement for Flinders, but someone who could be used as cover, or provide real competition. I dont see a case for not having another keeper who can be called upon. Many clubs would have rested their promising young keeper after some of the drubbings we have taken this season, but because we dont have proper cover, we have had to play him week in week out, which has probably contributed to some of his poorer games.
At this stage of the season, in the predicament we are in, I do believe Ritchie would be a far steadier option at left back than the one we are currently deploying, we are in a relegation fight and it is no place for young inexperienced players, who are very low on confidence.

By your contrite response, I assume that you know a lot better ......?

It says a lot about the signings and coaching skills of CT and CW, when here we are in the death throes of the season and the best team to put out is still a big subject for debate .

For me our best 11 players, at the present time, would be:

Flinders

Mcsweeney Collins Liddle Austin

Brown Jones Gamble Monkhouse

Boyd O'donovan

But the chances of seeing that team tomorrow are probably zilsch, cos Tubby knows best rolfl

Concurring with that at the moment, both the team and the chances of seeing it start tomorrow's game.

I was thinking that.

The biggest problem appears to be whether Tubby knows his best formation and tick tacks.
If we are looking for solutions to ease our current predicament, we need look no further than Turner's contribution.
All we can do is turn up when and where we can and support the lads who are picked, and hope that Turner has guessed correctly.

I dont go to a lot of games due to being down south, but from here in Huntingdon I can see that Sir Richie should now be put out to stud. He is a liability and to suggest he is a left back you obviously are on a wind up or know nothing about football.

Humphreys was a tremendous player for Pools a few years ago - he's now so finished at this level I think there should be a new word for players who are well finished but keep playing... Humphreysed

wow, i bow down to your greater judgement, you are obviously someone who knows everything, and who's opinion is worth more than anyone else's. Why would it be so crazy to see Gary Liddle play in midfield once more? Im fairly sure he performed pretty well as a midfielder for us for something like 50 appearances or so, and lets face it, having gone to every home game this season, i'm as aware as the next person that our midfield has not been too shit hot, or do you think it is ok? Maybe we should just keep playing the same team till we go down chip, then change things :!:

Leave Liddle at centre-half (He was poor in central -midfield all last season). Centre midfield should be Gamble & Jones. IMHO.
