where able to play the long ball game in the 80's because they had John Fashanu and other such target men who could batter defenders and knock on for others to score.

We can't play the long ball game effectively because we don't. We are using a left midfield player to play the big man up top. I bet Southamptons 6ft 2in and 14 clem Radhi Jaidi, 6ft 2 in Jose Fonte and 6ft 2 in Wayne Thomas are all pappin their pants at the thought of an aimless aerial bombardment from Pools with weak as piss (admittedly 6ft 2 ) Andy Monkhouse and Roy O'Donavan the target as Humps and co deliver from the flanks.

Turner man FFS banghead banghead refred

What about if, Southamptons 6ft 2in and 14 clem Radhi Jaidi, 6ft 2 in Jose Fonte and 6ft 2 in Wayne Thomas, get outplayed on the flanks and get balls delivered to them behind?? To 6'5" Bjonsen??

Or are these lighthouses nimble on their feet as well?? sctatchinghead

CT won't pick the Iceman and as for outplaying them on the flanks don't forget we have Humps on the left now.

Saints won 3-0 at MKD today and I fear they will tear us limb from limb setting us up nicely to get shafted by Swindon at home.

Confident prediction is we'll be 6 goals worse off on goal difference by this time next saturday and with no more points and sitting in the bottom four.

2 points off relegation and Southampton & swindon to play. Hard to see how we can not be in the bottom four in 7 days time.

Simple. The teams beneath us are worse.

I suppose we do have a slight psychological edge over Swindon, having pasted them at their place.

That's my point to be honest, but Turner in the Mail is telling us he is to go route one against a team of bloody giants when we have pace with Brown, O'Donavan, Jones and McSweeny who could exploit them, yet we will have Monky up top who will lose headers and isolate O'D and we have Humps on the wing. It's suicide tactics and in no way plays to our (limited) strengths and in fact emphasises our weaknesses.

CT is a tactical numpty

Apparently when Turner finished his coaching badge he accidentally picked up the folder marked "Emphasising your teams weaknesses", when he should have picked up the one marked "Utilizing your teams tactics".

Thus we find ourselves in the current predicament.......doh.

that's the way I see it - but there are some who take exception to the constant criticism of Turner - almost as if they are party to some propaganda that the club is orchestrating via a certain clique which plays to the club's tune
