Not strictly related to this but certainly bus related.

This new bus station thing they're building in Church Street, The traffic around there is mental at the best of times around there. Which services will be running through that new interchange because buses coming out of there into the traffic light queue is going to cause complete mayhem. As I understand it only the arriva buses go down that way at the minute and turn around on the mini roundabout. Will other buses be making a routine stop there?

I know it's an odd thing to be worried about on a Friday morning but your post jogged my memory a bit!

the arriva and go northern will be using it and i would imagine the national express coaches will stop there.
the entrance will be on church square and the buses will exit onto church street where the taxi rank is opposite the hillcarter
there are no plans to route any of stagecoach's buses through it
it is another ill thought out waste of council tax

I pass that joke of a 'bus station', or as the planners love to call it ...the 'interchange' ( which it isn't) every day and can safely describe it as a very, very expensive set of three bus stops, because that's all it is, a glorified layby. All the bits you can see nearest the road are a .... car park!
In truth, half a dozen people getting of a train twice an hour hardly justifies the term 'interchange' ..... it's for out of town buses to stand at and in the unlikely event of someone getting off a train and wishing to travel to say Trimdon, well the bus won't leave the 'interchange' empty. In truth, the only claim to fame for this silly scheme is that the bus shelters will become Hartlepools busiest urinals ... a waste of money and the people of Hartlepool will still have to stand at badly designed bus stops and get pissed on when it rains as they've always done.. and the politicians who know nowt about the subject will be queueing up to cut ther ribbon on opening day, proclaim it's constrcution and drive off in their cars, oh dear. sadx

Aye everyone and their dog seems to be proclaiming the new hospital as the best thing since sliced bread .... it is if you've got access to transport.

theres clearly pros and cons to the new hospital.

for people in the fens/greatham/seaton etc the new hospital will probably be closer. for those on the headland/west view etc it will obviously be much further.

most people who dont have a car or live within walking distance probably use public transport to get there at the moment so nothing much will change for them, especially those who get free travel anyway.

for me its gonna be much further to the new one , but i am a realist, and know that the hospital cant carry on as it has. the actual construction of the new one is gonna create a lot of work and hopefully jobs for people in the town. that has to be good news.
My fear is that it goes tits up and we're stuck with North Tees which is a bad place to get to .... and don't assume it won't happen. That aside, the new hospital is at least five years away and i suspect we'll have to use North Tees for just about everything soon the way it's going.

but thats the problem the length of time to get there other than the H11 which runs every 90 mins there is no direct bus service.
say an old chap from seaton has an appointment at north tees.
he leaves seaton to go to the town centre gets to the ramp and finds he has just missed the hospital bus and has 88 mins to wait for the next 1 not good is it
