i really hope they give john orley a decent send-off. he deserves it. there should certainly be a collection around the ground for the fans to show their appreciation. i only found out recently that he does not get paid. top man!

A different opinion that you wouldnt dare say on amessage board. :laugh:

Whoever takes on the job next should have to follow a few rules set by precedent during the fine spell that Mr Orley has done the job;
1. You don't talk for the love of hearing your own voice
2. You don't mention your own name
3. You do all of the announcing from the press box not somewhere that you think will get your ugly mug a bit of exposure.

I seem to remember this conversation cropping up before & getting a pretty much unanimous opinion on who we thought was the most suitable guy in town for the job.

Would John Orley be interested, have the time and the patience, to train a parrot, as it appears the only option.

Couldn't agree more.

The affected accents of local DJs grate on me like nothing else - most of them are hideously uninteresting, depressed social inadequates who mask the fact with wacky and zany antics which are usually influenced by the work of Timmy Mallett. And have you noticed how many local DJs seem to have the same accent between, regardless of where they're from?

Apologies to any local DJs listening - I've just had some bad experiences. Why do the dullest people believe they're best equipped for broadcasting?

Within a couple of weeks we'll end up with the 'Annoucers the Star Show' with brief intervals of football squeezed in, where possible, ego permitting.
