....currently watching this film on Sky. Now call me picky, but the two main characters are Robert De Niro and Al Pacino both playing Cops/Detectives, their Lieutenant is the marvellous Brian Denehy(excellent in To Catch a Killer), anyway my gripe is based on the fact the average U.S cop retires in his fifties, and the film was made in 2008 when Pacino was 68, De Niro 65, and Denehy 70.

Believe me they all look it as well. Also I cant imagine there be any chasing on foot scenes.

Mr. Paulus, I'll tell you the same thing I told somebody who was concerned that policemen would never chase suspects onto roofs of buildings (a la the police chasing Bradley Branning in EastEnders last week). I think my advice was the same thing that one of the EastEnders producers said after they had received complaints from the police the live episode.

The advice: Yes, films/TV may be realisitic, but they are also meant to be fictional.

Funny but I thought the object of film/t.v was to be as realistic as possible, full stop. Somebodys just created that statement you mention to cover the obvious cracks.

Remember seeing a programme a few years ago which covered the flaws in high profile films. IE it showed one of the soldiers riding on a chariot in Ben-Hur with his wrist watch still on.

Watched an episode of The Champions on Sky yesterday and nearly wet me'sell laughing, they went from a real desert shot to a studio created bedioun camp, with painted background and plastic plants, with half a dozen norf' londoners made up to look like arabs, who had tanned faces but white hands, who then attempted to speak broken arabic......brilliant.

And Eastenders dont get me started on that dilge, the target audience for that show must be the under 8's.

Not in the subject of the film, which lets face it can be owt', but in the acting sense.

I mean i'm pretty sure there's a remote island in the pacific somewhere with a few 70ft gorilla's knocking about on it...... stpid

Agreed Sussex, as the film totally lacked any action whatsoever, basically because you could'nt have had fight scenes involving pensioners, and there was more movement in an episode of Cannon.

Note:- Frank Cannon was a 1970's U.S. cop who weighed about 20 stone, therefore his chase scenes always involved him out-running the baddies from the comfort of his car seat.

If by "a bit of letdown" you mean "a complete sack of shite", I'd agree.

No-one on pushbikes or harvesting red beans whilst saying 'sacre bleu' was the major letdown for me I'm afriad

A great addition to the English language 'Dilge' a cross between bilge and dirge.

Perfect for Eastenders.

Dibble can often be seen recreating those Frank Cannon chases around the streets of Clavering.

ooof, bad film.

A predictable plot and a 'dirty' minx in it for no reason who was a very poor actress, but nice.

If you had taped it and watched it later, would still be classed as live? sctatchinghead

Well, you'd still see the actors making the same mistakes any person would make if performing live to 17 million people across the country.

Samantha Womack (nee Janus) for example walking out of a scene in the shop with paint stripper whilst forgetting to pay for it. rolfl

Thats not funny POK thats theft and is against the law.

If the programme was truly accurate she would have been arrested and charged.

Taken to court.

And then had her name featured in court round up, with a small slap on the wrist, fine, victume surchage and all that.

I bet Eastenders didnt show that did they?

Since the episode went out, there have been a few videos posted on YouTube highlighting what mistakes there were.
