If you had seen Richie Humphreys performance yesterday you wouldn't be saying he was a 'great player who still has something to give'

He is crap.

If our team was made up of 11 Richie Humphries I'm pretty sure we'd be bottom of this league, as there'd be plenty of huff and puff but no end result. I mean he's hardly prolific on the goals front these day's is he?

Check:- 2005/6 - 2 goals.
2006/7 - 4 goals.
2007/8 - 3 goals.
2008/9 - 0 goals.
2009/10 - 0 goals.

I rest the case for the prosecution yer' honor.

At the end of the day we all know what a great servant to the club Richies been in the last 9 yrs (possible hint as to why he's still playing), but in football there's no room for sentiment.

I mean if your gonna' take that route let's get Kenny Johnson playing up front.

He still plays because the manager still thinks he is good enough.

The players seem to think this as well.

For me he can still do a job for us. I do however think he will retire at the end of this season, so maybe its best we enjoy him playing instead of taking constant pot shots at him when there are other players who are clearly worse.

sorry but a midfielder should be putting some tackles in when we don't have the ball - I haven't seen him do that for over 2 years (obviously not since I started my sabbatical in November). I can't imagine that there were tackles flying in from him yesterday - in fact I would not believe you at all if you said it - cos nobody else who was there has said that was the case

Mark Tinkler was a brilliant player for Pools - but he was retired off after the play off final season - I don't see the difference between his last few performances and Humphreys' performances since 2006/07 to be honest - sometimes you have to let go

If you really think he will be up to it next season in league one against the likes of Lallana etc (Southampton will still be here without a doubt), and Turner thinks the same - then we will have real trouble getting out of our own half of the pitch - never mind causing a threat to the opposition goal!!!

Playing one twos in small areas of the pitch is about 20% of a midfielder's game - what about the rest of it? He fails miserably at that these days I'm sorry to say

Leon McSweeney
Denis Behan
Jonny Rowell
Michael Mckay
Jon Andre-Fredrikson
David Foley
Alan Power
Billy Greulich
Armann Bjornsson
Julian Cherel

Mostly young talented lads, bottling it week in week out.

Here is your problem, not Ritchie. He brings more to the team than any of these players.....

Mind you i am in the minority here so feel free to shoot me dowm.

Yes, you're right. The problem is all of those players that have hardly featured this season....not the ones who are playing.

You have listed four players who have not played a single minute all season and some shite Turner signings. I fail to see you point.

Ritchie has brought more to the team than Johnny Rowell, but I've had as much of an opportunity to bring something to the team as he has this season- none.

Minority or not that is a ridiculous post.

There are lot of ridiculous posts on here. The majority of them blaming Ritchie for defeats or claiming Denis Behan and Allan Power are the next big things.

No. So please explain it, unless that's your get out clause.

And I'm not a Humphreys knocker, I do believe due to being played in to many positions, he is not playing well. before he retires I seriously expect Turner to try him in goal, now that's me attempting a little humour.

No wind up Chip.....just someone who doesn't listen to the bollox that gets spouted on here sometimes.

Why anybody would want a great club servant, who can play in numerous positions and still do a job to not be involved is beyond me. The lad knows how to play football, thats why he features, no other reason.

A joke is not a thing but a process, a trick you play on the person's mind. You start him off toward a plausible goal, and then by a sudden twist you land him nowhere at all or just where he didn't expect to go.

If he knows how to play football why has he been hiding it so well for the last three years? He should be proud of his talent, not keeping it from us all.

Never posted a team yet I debate it once the incumbent has picked it.

Humphreys has been a good servant and player, but that ended about 3 yrs ago but he continues to get contracts and games. He is everything that epitomises the club at present ie one of the old pals act with CT and KH. Jobs for the boys

Who is blaming our current predicament on Ritchie sctatchinghead sctatchinghead sctatchinghead.

The majority blame Chris Turner. Ritchie does his best but it isnt good enough. Its not Ritchies fault that he still plays regularly (up until very recently). It lies with the manager.

Can we lock this thread please [(c) Mutters]

What position would Ritchie excel in?

I would sooner have monky or fredrikson on the left of midfield. Jones and gamble are better centrally. Im not impressed by Hartley but im not sure I would sooner see Ritchie play there. There are too many pacey right wingers in league 1 for him to cope as we found out last season

He is a perfect squad utility player so personally i would always have him available on the bench.

He retains possession well, great first touch, distributes the ball cleverly and keeps the ball on the deck. Pretty useful stuff for some who is gash as someone put it.

Anyway thats my voice aired.....hope he bangs in a goal next match to vindicate my arguement

Yes, I hope he bangs one in as well, he's due one, as the last time he scored for us was at Tranmere on 15th March 2008.
