I went to Spurs last night with my flat mate who is a Spurs fan as never been to White Heart Lane before, was a ok match and spurs didnt get out of second gear against an awful Bolton side.

Anyway I always though the term Yid and Yid army was derogatory but the Spurs fans seem to revel in it and sing it all the time, even little kids who were around me. A massive bloke got kicked out for banging repeatdly on the back of the stand screaming it at the top of his voice right infront of the police, when he was getting turfed out everyone was shouting "Yid-o, Yid-o"

Best chant of the night was either, "what time is your mini-bus" to the small travelling support from Bolton or "cheryl cole a slag, she cant even sing and when she is shagging Ashley, she thinks of Ledley King"

There's a Jewish league where I play 5 a side, many of them with funny Old Testament related pun names among other things. My favourite is 'Yidderminster Harriers'.

Both Spurs and Arsenal have a large jewish fan base and yet spurs fans get called 'yids', particularly by Arsenal fans As you point out, spurs fans actually revel in the name but I understand that the term 'yid' is no less deragtory to jews, than calling some from pakistan a 'paki'.
