They are turning in a mini revival and just posted a great result for them against Rotherham. Tonight they have a massive and winnable game against Lincoln and the town turn out in force to support their local team.

Well, 1697 of them did.

To be fair, as bad as our support is. A team like Hartlepool in your position should be attracting higher numbers than you are doing. And this isn't an attempt at a bite. It's a genuine point.

why should we?

Our average attendance this season is 3,300 or something similar. After 3 years of below average football thats about right for a club our size. if we start regularly playing like we did the last half hour against Leeds, expect a fair few fans to come back.

good football = good crowds.

Its not a difficult concept.

Yes, but that average will have been boasted by two or three really good attendances. In the last few games you've had quite a few below 3,000. And for a team that has hopes of possibly reaching the Play-Offs, it's not great is it?

You do however have a wage budget that is probably higher than a few teams in your league. Whatever way you look at it, your owners can't be impressed with your attendance figures.

Our attendance this season is rubbish we all know that but thats what you get with rubbish football. Hartlepool/Darlo etc cant be compaired to other larger city clubs in our division, we alos have very fickle "fans" from the town would would rather go and watch Sunderland/Borer/Newcastle.

How do you know that I would say that Pools would be one of the lowest in the division.

I'm making a guess based on the number of decent players you have. You certainly won't be paying peanuts out.

Pools possible highest earner will be Boyd (others may know different and I am just guessing) however we couldnt get people like Dimi back because of his wages.

IOR have cut there cloth accordingly (and by that I mean they are prepaired to write off an acclecated amount each year) if you dont fall into this we dont get them.

Maybe if your stadium was big enough to host clubs the size of Leeds, we wouldn't have to go on your end

Though we shouldn't be playing you again for a long time, if in the future we are to play you away we could prehaps switch it to Elland Road like little teams do sometimes in the early rounds of the FA Cup. More money for you, more tickets for Leeds = everybodys a winner!

No, thats another poor joke but at least its specific to Leeds.
I heard the other joke as a blonde joke set in a bar, though was a bit longer.

On a whole Leeds have more support than Newcastle.
All of the Newcastle support comes from the North East, which explains why they get big home crowds, outside of this area nobody cares for them.

Leeds on the other hand have large support bases from all over the country and in europe - Newcastle are virtually unknown in europe.

Leeds take more supporters buses from the midlands and London than any other team besides scum and scouse.
We sell out every away game including 3900 to Walsall on a Tue night 3rd season in a row, more fans than Oldham in our 1st round FA Cup tie for a game which was at Boundary Park, available online and we played them midweek in 2 weeks time, which we then took 4000 to.
Our away support is unbelieveable for a club in its 3rd season in league 1.

They have won next to nothing since 1955, only 4 other teams have won the top division more recently than Leeds (Liverpool not being one).

Alan Smith plays for them and he is a 'lovely lovely person'.

Newcastle's away support is also incredible though, I'd a imagine it's dwarfs that of Leeds. I also think you underestimate the amount of band wagon jumping not nice people (and that is what these people who live outside of West Yorkshire and follow Leeds are as well) jumped on Newcastle during the mid nineties.

Also Newcastle are averaging over 42,000 this season I doubt Leeds have ever averaged that over a season, in fact Leeds record attendance is only 5,000 more than St.James's current capacity fook me Middlesbrough have a similar record crowd to Leeds!

They are a bigger club and always have been.

As I say Newcaslte has a great support in the North East, in Leeds the support isn't as loyal to its home town club. Though ou should not underestimate the support throughout the rest of England and Europe for Leeds.

Latest stats on official websites of football teams visited put us 4th in Britain.

We were selling out most weeks when we were in the prem, for most of our support its a long trip to Elland Road so I can understand why attendances are down while playing our third season in division 3.

Newcastles away support is not better than that of Leeds.

Also the fans who support from outside Leeds are hardly glory supporters, most havn't jumped ship since we turned shite, its the Leeds based fans who only come back for the Liverpool and Spurs games this season, and shall be back when we return to the prem.

cmon woody, less of the bullshit.

2 years later when they finished 5th in the championship attendances were down to 22,000.

thats a fooking big drop. one in three of your fans deserted the club.

the mags average attendance in the last decade has been constantly over 50,000 and the drop to the championship has only seen it dip to 43,000. given some of that will be due to there being less in the away end, newcastles attendance has hardly shifted at all following relegation.

they have more fans, and more away fans. FACT.

They have great support in the North East. They Don't have a better away support - fans throughout the rest of the country.

Yes and in the Pitcairn Islands the number of Pools supporters is 6, whereas only 2 follow Leeds, therefore judging by your "away support" rule Woody, Pools are a bigger club in the South Pacific than Leeds.

They are all in-breds on the Pitcairns so it's safe to say they are all Leeds followers.

All the powder monkeys aboard were from the Pool though.

I'd love some evidence that Leeds away support is 'better' than the skunks, I'd be almost certain that Newcastle have taken greater numbers away from home this season and just about every other. They took 6,000 to Coventry recently on a Tuesday night.

That is without even mentioning the fact the Geordies have to travel around 200 miles more than Leeds for most away fixtures as well.
