The Northern Echo Arena is the perfect setting for you to spend Valentine’s Day with the special person in your life.

Darlington FC are hosting their famous Carvery on Valentine’s Day (Sunday February 14) in a special package which includes a live singer.

A one-course meal is priced just £6.95, with the two-course available for £9.90 and three-course for only £12.85.

Booking is strongly advised as this is expected to be very popular. To book, call 01325 387000 or email commercial@darlington-fc.net

I used to work with a guy called Billy Ankers.

I always assumed his name was really William but I never heard it mentioned by anyone.

Honestly, i really am underwhelmed by the sheer banality of this.
For starters, this 'famous' carvery of which they speak in hushed tones, 'Famous' to who ....? the few disillusioned souls who still nest on the emptying 'arena ' seats? Any football club whose fans only retort to the fact they are heading into the conference faster than a Stuka dive bomber with knackered air brakes with a giant anvil strapped to it, is to state smugly like Mrs Bouquet at a Garden Party that they have a 'famous carvery' is a sign that it's time to call the men in white coats. if the this is so important to them, why not ditch the football part and get a season ticket for the Toby Carvery (where the vegetables can help themselves to vegetables) and organise a singing section on the relative merits of frozen Yorkshire puddings as opposed to the frozen variety.
As for the 'romantic' idea of spending the Valentines Day with your loved one at any football ground, let alone the 24 hour suicide watch arena, calls into question the sanity of the man and the desirability of the woman, especially if she insists on wearing a shirt. The very idea that this could lead to them becoming a couple and producing more clones of themselves leads me to the conclusion that a cull by Canadian seal pup clubbers would be the only option.......oh dear.
