Gonna take the wife out for a meal in a couple of weeks and fancy a good old curry. I remember you's lot drooling over the ones on the marina but can't remember which was deemed to be the best. I've always gone to the ones down the Golden Gate or the one in Bianco's old gaff but can't be chewed going down Church Street so any tips?

Isn't that the one where they give you a free brandy after your first visit, as a treat?
I mean, it was very generous but there was nothing I fancied less than a brandy, after a curry, but I didn't like to refuse.
Yes, food is very good, tho.

Cafe India is clean and does a very good curry.

You cant go wrong with Spices if you treck over the marina. I was there at the weekend and its pretty faultless. The only negative was that they have changed their onion bahji's so they are now flat like pancakes and soggy rather than crispy. Not right!

Spices onion bhagis have always been flat as long as i remember. I quite enjoy them.

Used to go to Cafe India every week till one week he asked if we would move seat (even though there was only us and 1 other family in) and when i reluctently said yes, he then asked us to move again later on. I walked out and never been back since.

Do you think that was his plan or did he have a reason for asking you to move?

Maybe your moaning was turning the cream sour in the kitchens?

Well I took Mrs R out for her Valentine's meal on Saturday and took the advice of Cinnamon's and was very impressed.

Had a little worry when we went in cos it was packed and we hadn't booked, but he squeezed us in and I'm glad he did. The food was lush, the service was great, the wine was nice and it was all very reasonably priced. Couldn't recommend the place highly enough and will definitely be going again in the future.

We also went in the new bar Black Olive beforehand. What a nice place. There was barely anybody in when we got there so got parked on the comfy chairs by the window and had a few drinks. A little on the pricey side but worth paying a bit more to keep the pricks out. Went back in there after the meal though and it was rammed, couldn't move never mind get to the bar, so we buggered off and slummed it in Vibes for a couple of drinks before going home, didn't matter so much by then cos I was trolleyed anyway!

As a matter of interest, what sort of wine did you have with the curry?
I like cider with mine. Once read a foodie writer who claimed that red wine goes well with spicy food, so I tried it and as I predicted, I didn't agree!

You've just got to have red wine with pasta dishes though. Anyone who disagrees with that must be a Leeds supporter.

Ooooo you cant serve red wine with white fish..................fooook off.

I never drink beer with food...spoils the beer and the food.
Beer is for drinking before food......ie a couple of pints before yer Sunday dinner is the perfect example.

I drink wine with food and I have never found a bottle of red wine yet that goes with fish dishes, so I tend to agree with white with fish.

Like most things.......ya pays yer money and takes yer choice.
