To be fair to CT, the IceMan made no real attempt to reach a 50:50 ball into the box when we were 0-2, & he turned his back when defending on the right side of the penalty area. I agree that the service to the front two was poor, but IceMan gave the impression that he just wasn't up for it yesterday

It was cringeworthy when he got subbed and jeered before half time (about 40 minutes had been played). While I appreciate that he deserved to be subbed (along with most of our players) surely CT could have waited until half time to sub him?

That substitution should result in Turner being sacked.

It was an utterly appalling piece of man management. Disgraceful.

If there is anyone on here that can honestly say he was the worst pools player out there then you are fookin mad.

Him and Boyd didnt stand a chance all game. They never ecieved any possession, had no one from midfield runing to support them, and Yet Turner takes him off, and replaces him with a bloke that does exactly the same job.

Utter disgraceful appalling man management. You should be ashamed Turner.

Totally agree with you 100% how on earth CT expects the players to get some confidence when he is doing stupid things like this is beyond belief, he has to go NOW. It simply doesnt affect one player but the whole squad, its probably 1of the reasons why we got thumped 5-0 yesterday.

If he deserved to be subbed then why give him the extra 5 minutes, apart from to protect him from the fans abuse? Footballers are paid big wages from our hard earned cash, & they need to know when they haven't earned their wages through lack of effort.
Perhaps CT thought "Just so he doesn't think it's only me, let the fans express their views on his performance". Subbing him at half time could have removed that opportunity

Maybe, but CT should be able to bollock or punish him himself without subjecting Bjornson to that abuse (which had got to a very bad level and it was down to the teams inadequacies, not merely bjornsons) It was almost as if he was made a scape goat. The fans were baying for blood at the way the team (and manager) had performed and it seemed wrong for one player to be subjected to it when he was not the worst player on the pitch.

Cyril Knowles once made a sub after about 15 mins at the Vic,(I cant remember who he took off)

When asked after the game was the player suffering an injury ?,

Knowles simply replied No , he wasn't following instructions.

I can see both sides of this discussion. In that I ( and everyone else on this board) knows that if Turner had waited till half time, possibly until the hour mark, some including people who have already posted on this thread, and some who haven't yet posted on this thread. WOULD AND I REPEAT WOULD have started a thread criticising Turner for not acting more quickly.

As they say YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS.

I'm trying to be as rational as possible today, how is beyond me as I'm still fuming after yesterday.

What difference was that substitution ever going to make??

Did it result in us having a shot??

He has shown us time after time that he has no idea how to change a game with his substitutions, how many times have we came back to win from behind this season? So when he sends out a totally disjointed unbalanced starting line up we're always going to be fucked. Could he not see the amount of space they had down the our right hand side for example? They had two good experienced players in Dean Lewington and Luke Chadwick up against an out form centre midfielder and our best central midfielder who’d been shoved out wide to accommodate others. This is when on the bench he had an experienced right back and a right winger, both players HE signed in the summer! Could he not see this area was problem? Well he didn’t do anything about it other than two like for like utterly pointless changes.

He doesn’t want to have the players in looking at the video he wants to be have a look at himself, it is his team.

Turner always blames someone else other than himself. I think he is round the f-ucking bend personally

I can't disagree with that in that I can't remember a time when Turner has made substitutions that have changed the game. I have also stated on another thread that his team selection yesterday (and in a lot of other games ) have baffled me. Player's out of position when he said he had cover in all positions this season, and cover with player's he brought in yet doesn't play.

But I stick by my post on here that some would still have criticised him if he had left Bjornnson on the pitch, that's just how I see it. Other substitutions and the forwards actually getting some service may have been better than a forward for a forward, problem is we will never know now.
