its a Download client type thingy mr Muttley.

People upload pretty much anything you can think of to the Usenet Clients servers and they stay on there for anything up to a year.

When you subscribe and download, its always at the very top speed your Internet connection allows.

Problem being you have to pay normally.

i pay around £8 quid a month ish on Giganews

newsgroups Mutters. A fast and legal way to download music and films for a small monthly subscription fee. They are electronic noticeboards where people can upload stuff to - but the difference is they are broken up into sub-mp4 and sub-mp3 files (in other words when you actually see it on the newsgroups, the songs/films are technically just data files). At the moment it's not illegal to download stuff from these places, cos it takes the form of data.
Sadly they tend to not be free these days, because by encrypting the files in the way they do, paedos etc were uploading and downloading kiddie porn and stuff - also things like snuff fillums etc etc - so internet service providers stopped supporting them...I think Virgin Media still has a free news server but I could be wrong. AOL, BT etc stopped their service years ago cos they didn't want the hassle of any legal stuff.

Newsgroups are by far the best way of downloading things if your willing to pay a little for it. They are just like Torrents but without the seed/leech system so you can get just about anything, anytime, without having to rely on someone else.

You pay for it when you sign up, I would have thought It's a direct debit.

http://www.newsleecher.com/

This is the only one I've ever seen, a mate uses it and it seems to have everything and is brilliantly simple to use.

i cant say whether its the best, but i use Giganews and get Newsleecher free with it (Giganews provide the content, Newsleecher is used to download it).

giganews.com is the place to find out more for that particular company.
