It was a whole recorded episode of Countdown I very much doubt it was done off Jeff Stellings back, he's only the presenter it's his job!!

Other Mr Mutely's rant the most amusing aspect of this story is the Mail deeming Jeff Stelling (who is on two massively popular shows 6 days out 7 every single week) being on a TV show as newsworthy!!

I wish you lot would stop holding him up as some sort of god! He's a decent presenter earning a good whack hosting TV shows. Yes he's from Hartlepool and yes he mentions Pools on his Sky sports program. Thats it though, its a bit of an act that has proven popular. Fair play to him for doing well but pleasseeeeee... get over it.

I just knew someone would moan about this, knew it!!

I watched CBB last night and it was pretty funny how thick the 'celebs' were/are!
The laddo who's the champion was getting 9 letter words, 8's etc and they were struggling to get 4's and 5's...then the sums......Dane thingybob - "yeah I got it....50x100=500 yeah add the 25 yeah and the 9 and the 2 yeah...." Jeff or the fit sum lass interupts him,errr Dane..50x100 isn't 500....... :uhoh:

the look on his face was pretty funny!!

I thought Stelling was good on it, had a laugh with Vinnie Jones etc and like has been said its his job so he'll have had to do it, but more importantly will probably wanted to have done it!!

Actually come to think of it, by the stated standards of the board that is debatable. Given that he rarely attends a game and when he does its on a freebee.

I am not knocking the bloke but as a Pools fan he's high profile but lightweight. The big time fans are the likes of my old teacher Mrs Stebbings. She went to Pools week in, week out for all of her adult life. Not the weather or illness could keep her away and this through some of the darkest days of the club. She stood at the same spot in the Rink end to the right of the goal for every game I ever remember.

There are many many Mrs Stebbing's of this world and as fans they are the people I admire rather than Jeff Stelling who I repeat I have nothing bad to say about. But FFS lets praise those who deserve it.

And you know what, pound to a penny Jeff Stelling would agree with me.

Jeff Stelling has raised the profile of Pools across the country and made a lot of people more aware of them.

He doesn't seem to have raised the numbers going through the gate though.
