they will be putting sex pistols tribute bands on next !

Heres a few names from The studio, all original bands doing original stuff

The Ray Summers
The Vaudeville Class
High Plane drifters
The Modern Works
Jimmy Bullet & The Baby Shakers
The Despondents
The Doledrums
Gentlemans Dub Club
360
Big Hand
Electric Suicide Club
The Mourning After
Russell & The Wolves
Becks & The Bullets
Idiot Savant

Before you make smart arsed comments about covers bands, just tell me how many of those original bands did you go and see ?
Hartlepool doesnt deserve to have decent original bands on because The Hartlepool public dont support them.

funny that the ones who tend to have a say in what gigs are on at the studio are the very ones that don't support any of them or haven't even stepped foot in the place.
I've had bands on over the years when the support band was a cover and the main band did all original stuff...and guess what, people stayed to watch the cover band and left even before the original band played....Couldn't believe it. and Groovie way there the night it happened.
Anyway if your not wanting to see em just don't go and miss another great night.

Absolute bollocks.
The guy who is employed to book the bands may not use the venue, but the trustees that are involved in any of the booking do.
At the end of the day the guys job is to book a programme of gigs where the outlay is comparable to the income from the punters. He uses his own judgement to make the necessary decisions & his judgement is rarely wrong.

Ste,yep got the wrong end of the stick there,no worries mate I know what you meant now.
Elvis, your dead right The Venue has to have a mixture of tribute/cover bands, well known artists and unknown artists.I want to se everyone in town using The Studio which is why a varied programme is needed.
Some people want to be a critic, some are serious listeners & most just want to be entertained & hear songs they know & thats the type of audience that is needed to keep a venue afloat.
Chip, why not come along to The Vaudeville Class/Russell & The Wolves gig on the 15th,its free & you can have a pint with Elvis & myself.
The Clashed are as good as any other small venue tribute band around, theres no need to go calling them third rate,it just sounds petty.

russell and the wolves are decent in a tarantino kinda way
but i do like em, and not just cos they're mates!

tbh, I wouldn't drive up to the studio for a gig unless it was someone i really love, like the waterson:carthy gig.....its easier for me to go to boro for a.n.other gig....
