I posted this elsewhere but includes my team of the decade.

Best Moment - For me the 3-0 away win at Hull on the last day of the season back in 2000. We had to win 3-0 and hope others lost to stand any chance of making the play offs for the first time at the start of the decade.
Worst Moment - Cheltenham away in 2002. Third season in the playoffs and lost on penalties. Rich the Hump missing
Best Player - Joel Porter or Flash Watson....Joel
Worst player - David Foley
Best opposition player - Darren Pratley of swansea. Took us to pieces.
Best away ground/day out - Best away day is again the Hull game from 2000.
Your overall best team
Dimi
Barron Nelson Westwood Hugh the hammer
Brown Miller Tinkler Monkhouse
Porter Watson

Sum up this decade in no more than 10 words - A rollercoaster of highs and lows.

Dimi
Barron Nelson Westwood Robertson
Brown Boland Tinkler Smith
Boyd Watson

subs - Porter Humphreys Provett Stephenson Sweeney (first few seasons)

The difficult thing about picking the team is judging the merits of the levels that they played at. Players who have asserted themselves in league one have to get more kudos than those who bossed league two.

Paul Smith for one season was the best winger I've ever seen.

Last year Porter carried the team on his back and was the most entertaining and skilfull by a mile. But up front where he was best he wasn't better that Boyd at his best or Watson.

Picking the team it upsets me that I can't justify a place for the best servant to the club since Brian Honour but Ritchie would sub and cover every position other than keeper.

even better and even more unlikely than the securing of a play off place against Hull, was the one two years later when we secured the play off place in the same circumstances at Exeter. A much further distance, a huge following and an edgy game, with the two other results going our way.
This mainly because we were mid table with 5 games left, on 56 points. We won all five, a major achievement when you consider beating Plymouth was one of the games (they got over a hundred points that season )
So not to blow it and produce the goods against Exeter was brilliant by the team.

I can't think of anyone else, apart from my wife, who would have Gavin Strachan in their team of the decade.

The fire power, movement and pace in that team from midfield is precisely what we lack now.

For me Humps was unplayable in his pomp of the promotion year under Newell, when him and Tinks got 14 - 15 goals. Chuck in Super Tom and Browny and you'd get 50 - 60 goals from midfield, before Flash and Boydy start.

I think Spike was a much better player than Nelse and the partnership with Westy was brilliant.

I would have Holland, Porter, Monkey, Williams and Nelson on the bench

All very similar teams so far and i cant really alter it much.

But they do show how longt it is since we had very good full backs or right wingers. I know we got Brown but to me he is a striker and yeah id probabaly put Barron and Hugh in full backs but Barron more so for his organisational and leadership skills rather than his ability at right back and Hugh, well he werent the best defender by a long shot but them free kicks and throw ins made up for it.

Certainly the 3 positions we have lacked most in over the years.

It's easy to let the last two seasons and his 'big time charlie' attitude diminish Nelson. In his first 3 or 4 seasons he was awesome home and away. An infinitely better player than Lee.

Nelson bossed and bullied every forward playing against him for years - apart from Steve Howard. That included proper players in League One, Graeme Lee looked very good against league two opposition.

However Graeme Lee is, I believe, our most successful striker ever. One game played - two goals. Or have I misremembered that?

Turner played lee upfront several times. I think he actually started up front in the 2nd leg of the play offs at Darlo where we played 3 up top. He certainly didn't only start one game up front...

And anyone that thinks Foley is the worst player obviously can't remember Paul Beavers, Scott Walker, Chris Llewellyn or Liam Henderson...

If you're going to do a wind up, try not to be so painfully obvious.

Dimi

Ross Westwood Strodder Robertson

Clarke Tinkler Miller Smith

Watson Porter

Provett, Barron, Stephenson, Boyd, Brown,Humphreys,Monkhouse

Smith because as someone else pointed out was a good left winger
Ross instead of Barron as although not a better organisational player, Ross I think better full back
Clarke instead of Brown as I do prefer Brown up front

I reckon Austin is a better right back than Ross and he has yet to show signs that he is a c*ck yet. Seeing as he's only made 8 less appearances than Ross he'd personally be my first choice at right back.

Are loan players allowed?

The season we had coppinger on one wing and then smith on the other was brilliant, some of the best football i've ever seen

Only C**k that wouldn't get in any team of mine is Lee rolfl rolfl I picked on what I believed to be ability, they can be the biggest C**k in the world but if played and performed in a Pools' shirt I couldn't care less.

But agree close call between Ross and Austin

Maybe another thread should be started the Pools' C**K team of the decade, not based on ability just a team full of C**k's and the reason they picked.
