First one I can remember is Alan Goads testimonial on 14 November 1977 against forest.
Number one that week was Name of the Game - Abba.

And No.1 on that day was....

Bachelors. Diane.

While on the music site i looked at the no1 the day i was born and you could not make it up. Tennesse Ernie Ford. Sixteen tons.

i've never really known my first game but always remember a game on a friday night in the mid 70's at home to Rochdale. Thanks to Mr Mad, it seems it was 23/10/1976 with pools winning 2 nil. My memory of the game was swinging around the crush barrier in the town end corner terrace that used to be given to away fans so not sure why we were stood there sctatchinghead I came out of the match with silver paint all over my hands and jumper

Number 1 was Pussycat by Mississippi or is that Mississippi by pussycat sctatchinghead
