When i got sent to my room as a kid i had a black and white portable with 3 channels and a few Beano and Dandy books (and our kids porn mags i found, so it wasnt all bad)

.... don't be so soft. when I did wrong, I was beaten within an inch of my life by the old man with his belt studded with Stanley blades and then sent to my room which I shared with my 15 brothers and all we had to keep warm was a Fisherman's Friend in the corner, one bed with a handkerchief for a blanket and a dead mouse for a pillow. We didn't have ceiling or roof and our only toy as such was a yo yo without any string which when turned sideways was used as a small stool ..or table. But it did me no harm.

You had a room? Luxury! We used to dream of sharing a room.

There were 14 of us living in a septic tank on a rubbish tip. Used to wake up every morning by having a load of rotten fish dumped all over us.

And you try telling kids today about it . . . . and they won't believe you!

our dad used to wake us up half an hour before we got to bed !
