I've not kept up with things over the last couple of days and maybe something more positive has been posted than I've read so far.

But

Me and my lad had a great day out at Leeds.

Had a little bet on Pools to win at the betting point in the bar area before the game started while we were having a pint (13/2 as it happens).

I did notice that the police and stewards were back and to to the toilets I take it in case anyone was smoking in there.

Went up the flights of stairs into the stand, had to move around to avoid the pillars from obstucting the view cos they kept us away from the edge of the pitch in the second tier of the stand but had a good view of the pitch from where we were .

Leeds kicked off looking as though they expected the game to be over in the first ten minutes and spent a lot of time attacking the far end goal but gradually Pools got into the game. 20 mins in there was a bit of an extended period of great interpassing play from Pools.

Was it Pools first corner when the ball came across, a little bit of heading skill at the far post from the corner and in it went right in front of us.

Did it for me. 29500 Leeds fans silent and 500maybe Pools supporters wetting them selves with surprise, delight and a bit of 'it can't happen, can it'.

We all know what happened then but it could have been oh so different.

After that the singers urged us on several occasions to stand up if we hated Darlington. A bit of thought would reveal that, really, it's not worth the effort, Darlington are long left behind and there's other stuff to concentrate on.

There was a bit of a heavy security presence for the number of Pools supporters.....those fella's in the undertakers coats looked like they'd been imported from the Soviet Union.... not good PR Leeds. On the other hand there was the usual suspects whose day out consists of threatening opposing supporters with handbags at dawn for two hours rather than watching the game they paid £26 to see. The stewards obviously selected for their physical presence rather than their powers of reasoning seem to be provoked by this. They provide a perfect partnership in some ways.

Looking at the Sunday papers there was only one other 30,000 crowd in the division, I bet Pools players loved it. Never mind getting rid of them out of the division, Pools were only a kick up the arse from providing the surprise of the day.

Hartlepool United playing in front of a crowd of 30,000 plus, c'mon that can't all be bad
