Post subject: Flinders and other Southend musings....

For whatever reason I couldn't get the Pools commentary today so had to settle for the BBC Radio Essex coverage. They spent the whole game discussing how "fragile" Scott Flinders looked when a cross went over. They honestly believed that by peppering our goalmouth with crosses he would fumble one.

At one point in the second half they described him as "completely rattled". Did he really look that bad? His confidence has quite clearly taken a knock lately.

So for the 6th time this season we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. These players CAN do it, we've seen it. So why do we only do it once every 3 games or so?

Is it anything to do with lack of inspiration, motivation and belief in the management team? It has to be something if they can bother to turn it on one week and then not bother the next. It was fairly obvious what was going to happen as soon as the first one went in. I imagine the HT team talk was something like "keep it tight for the first 15".....11 minutes into the 2nd half 2-2. Just what gets said at half time. Surely it isn't to sit back and defend what we have?

This season I have never felt comfortable with any kind of lead. Even last Saturday at 3-0 up I was nervous as to what would happen if they pulled one back.

Mr Hodcroft's AGM describes the worrying trend of falling attendances at The Vic (less than 3000 home fans vs Millwall). So what exactly has happened to bring people back through the gates? Nobody wants to watch a side that consistently throws away leads. We have to go 3 or 4 nil up to guarantee a win.

WE NEED A NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM.

My confidence in the team is shot, I never feel comfortable even when we take the lead and now have this inbuilt sense that we're gonna throw it away.

Worse than that for me. There was a time when a Pools loss would spoil my weekend. Nowadays it takes me all of 30 seconds to get over it.

The players apathy is contagious.

Flinders is injured he didn't train all last week with a shoulder injury hence his massive dip in form.

How can you play a keeper with shoulder injury stpid We can't loan anyone and the kid Cook isn't good enough to play in the Blue Square... It will be great if he worsens it by playing.
