I need a bit of help & advice here.
My dads computer is bolloxed & could do with formatting, but when he bought it he had no discs with it & didnt make a set up or recovery disc.
Can I make a disc with his copy of windows on & then format & re-install ?

Sorry I read that you couldnt access Windows at all... If you can, Do what EAD says, Copy the files over to an external HD or USB Memory Stick, either should do.

Get your hands on this : http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/

Make a note of his CD Key. But you will need to get a copy of Windows XP from somewhere to then do the Format & Re-Install, Unfortunatley you cant copy the core files over to a external disk and try it that way. What version of XP is he running? Home or Professional?

You may actually have a recovery partition built into your hard drive, turn the computer on and keep pressing either f5 f6 f7 or f8 (cant remember which one) then you wont need to reinstall windows, if you havent one nothing will happen and windows should boot.
