Well you're completely wrong. Again.

Every other thread is a list opportunity for ADG.

Anyway, I like mince pies and sprouts. And I also like eating Christmas cake with a bit of Wensleydale cheese.

That is true as well, there was something on The One Show a while back about that and the bloke doing the experiment said that those who like sprouts have a lot less taste buds than those who don't like them. He made up some sort of solution as well and gave it to people who liked sprouts and they all said it tasted vile, apparently it was supposed to be the same taste that those who don't like sprouts get when they eat the horrible little things

I rest my case your honour.

And I recommend that those that like sprouts, or say they do, be taken outside and shot.

It's true because some crank on The One Show says so? rolfl

I'd bet that they'd also had cranks on there banging on about how real "climate change" is.

Concurring with you and Mr Ripper.
My wife makes a superb christmas cake and we have sprouts as and when available. You've got to eat your greens.
Don't usually eat Christmas pud though........too stuffed after a smoked salmon and prawn starter and then the traditional main course. Washed down with a nice bottle of Sancerre or Chablis. It is the only time we have a turkey though.
Christmas cake and cheese at tea time, with a nice glass of Port.

Oh and there is nothing better for clearing out the blowy stuff than sprouts !!!!!!!!!!!! clappp

Whether you like sprouts is largely a matter of science/genetics

Some people can taste the chemical PTC (phenylthiocarbamide) and others cannot. To those who can taste it, PTC tastes bitter. The ability to taste PTC depends largely on a gene called TAS2R38. This gene encodes a taste receptor on the tongue . Brassica vegetables such as broccoli and brussel sprouts contain chemicals called isothiocyanates which act as a ligand for the TAS2R38 receptor, so there may be a correlation between whether people can taste PTC and whether they like brussel sprouts or not.

Personally I can't stand them

Sprouts, mince pies, turkey, stuffing, sausages wrapped in bacon, mince pies, Wychwood Rosy Nosy, houses decorated with lights, christmas pud (on fire) and custard, mince pies, the tree with flashing lights fit to give you an epileptic seizure, mince pies, The Great Escape, all that.

Love the lot me like.

You must do.

Heres a tip. If you love Chritsmas dinner etc. Serve it without sprouts. You will love it even more.

Nutters

Nah mate....eat them cos I love the taste.......prefer them crispy like, not mushy.
I think you're coming over as just a teeny weeny bit jealous that other people like them and you think you're missing summat.
We are talking about grub here, after all.
Ask Morrell's to make you a sprout pie........................ bbolt

Always refuse to eat cockney rhyming slang food. Avoiding mince pies is easy as Queen rightly pointed out- "Beelzebub has a mince pie put aside for me, for me etc", apples and pears is a bit harder but you have to make the effort.
