Charges over drugs and cash haul

Four people have been charged after cocaine, cannabis and a substantial amount of cash were seized by police on Tyneside and Teesside.

Two men, aged 26 and 28, from Tyneside, and two aged 22 from Hartlepool, were charged after 5kg of cocaine and £100,000 in cash were recovered.

The seizures were part of a joint operation by Northumbria and Cleveland police forces.

Four other people arrested have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Two kg of cocaine were taken from a car in the Northumbria force area and 3kg from a house in Hartlepool.

Police also seized mobile phones, computers, watches and a car.

A spokesman for Northumbrian Police said the four men had been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

They are due to appear in court later.
