Given that some people are again discussing, and some wanting more, investment in Pools whether from IOR or others it is interesting to see that Millwall have just anounced a loss for the year ended June 2009 of over £5 million. This on top of a loss the previous year of over £6 million. I dont think it is unreasonable to assume that the year before that was probably similar and that they are nearly half way through this year on a similar budget. That equates to around £20 million in the last 4 seasons. I think IOR have probably written off 10 million with us over 10 years so they have managed to lose twice as much in 2 fifths of the time. Despite the fact they got to the play off final last year and are in a reasonable this season they are only a point or 2 ahead of us. The point is that the sort of extra investment, or I as I would call it overspending, that some people are calling for offers no guarantee of success. Also any club that continues with those sort of losses without success will ultimately end up in trouble.

So they could be approaching 3 times the losses for no extra success

Any club spending money they haven't got in the hope of buying success is downright stupid, a fact which has been proved over and over again.
IOR don't spend money they haven't got, they underwrite any operating loss on a year by year basis.
For IOR to progress the club they know it would take further investment. They also know that, unless the revenue improves, they would have to fund that further investment OR find other sources of investment.
If you look at the people who have been involved in funding the sponsorship side of things, you will see a whole host of names involved in the energy business.
Would you consider the possibility that, once the ground purchase was finalised, a consortium of these previous and current investors could be formalised. Or maybe Berg Larsson takes more interest. He was going to get involved in Sheffield Wednesday at one stage and that wouldn't have involved peanuts.
I haven't read any posts on here where anybody is advocating doing what Millwall and others appear to have done. I. E. Spending money that isn't guaranteed.
Maybe Millwall have their debts underwritten........does anybody know?

"The first Millwall game my wife saw was a near riot against Oldham. Police all over the place. I was inches from an explosion. Everybody was very concerned about my wife. Her comment was, 'If you think this is scary you have never gone to a game in Boston.' Sports in the US can get very hairy. "
