Well played to the team today, some nice football and very few long high balls. Good alround performance just a shame we couldnt get on the end of soem brilliant crosses going into the box.

Flinds-7. Keeper and defence as steady as ever.
Austin-7.
Hartley-7.
Collins-8.
Liddle-8.
Humps-7. Thought he did welll today
Jones-7. Hit and miss, one minute does a good run/ball and then fucks up. Still much better than Sweeney.
Monky-8. Brilliant first half, not as involved in second. Always looked dangerous especially whenn moving into the middle.
Brown-8. Done very well.
Boyd-3 for first half, 8 for second.

Well done all!

Good result, especially with only 10 men!

Absolutely delighted with the win today. A good performance all round and the victory was fully deserved. Their keeper, some bad luck and one of the best covering tackles I have seen this season from their centre back on Brown when he was through stopping the score from being more comprehensive.

A word on Brown. I was very pleased to see him being restored to a place up front. I thought he did really well and, crucially, gave us more options going forward.

Well done lads.

I agree with that in the apart from Browns mark, it should of been a 7 as he should of scored twice, also Larkin was only a 7 as well. I think Boyd go better as the game went on - first half he looked off the pace but seemed to relish in the wet conditions.

it was also good to see that our goal came from the phase of play following the drop ball - the orient player should of just kicked the ball into touch rather than booting it the length of the pitch.... Never mind we won - well played...!

i was delighted with the way we played (at times) today, some lovely football with plenty of movement and intelligent runs.

Can't believe them tossers in the town end who booed at half time and were trying to start Turner Out chants when we were well on top in the second.

Absolute tossers, i genuinely wish they would welcome to the board and not come back.

Well done all players and management. A fully deserved win, and probably our best XI with the only question mark over Larkin or McSweeney when he is fit.

Behan is going to have to make to with a spot on the bench for a while.

Agreed re the booing.

I couldn't bring myself to disagree with it last week as I thought the performance deserved the crowd's wrath but today, even though it was goalless at the break, the crowd seemed to be right behind the lads when they came off. Certainly everyone around where I was sitting seemed to be enthused by what they had seen.

With some though, I don't think anything Turner does will please them.

We are 9th in the league and it may be worth remembering that under Neale Cooper when we reached the play-off final, we were hovering around 9th - 12th place for a lot of the season.

Hopefully Turner will stick with the Boyd Brown partnership for a while as it looked promising.

Also thought the Humphreys/Jones partnership did very well at times today.

Rodders here, first sober text, if not my first text to this forum. Many moons ago i contributed to monkey business, issue 50 centre pages and a few issues either side. Anyway, last week I bought a laptop and dongle so i could tune into the internet. Great build-up to the game on radio Tees then they stopped broadcasting on the net so I googled 'hartlepool radio.' Hartlepool Radio came up, (surprise surprise although I had never heard of it.) I had Pools player from the club on text commentry while listening to Hartlepool Radio. The match sounded very good, but I would like to know if people rate pools player as good value for money.

cheers,
Rodders, Isle of Man

What a difference a week and a change in personell and tactics make. Todays game was first and foremost really enjoyable, this being due to the fact that we tried to play football the way we like to see it up here clappp lots of short passing and moving on the deck type of stuff :coool: Having Brown upfront seemed to have a large bearing on the way the team played, think they must have been told to play everything to feet or into space and not in the air, as it usually goes with Behan in the team. Boyd also played a large part in this, although his first half performance was poor, second period he held the ball up very well on loads of occasions and linked the play up well. Thought Monkhouse was superb, very creative and taking responsibility for having a pop at goal, which was sometimes our only downfall, trying to walk the ball in and no one taking it on themselves to 'have a go', always looking for another pass when it wasnt really on instead of going for goal either by trying to run at defenders or get a shot away.
Larkin also played well I thought. I would say that at times the centre forwards needed to attack the ball more and with more desire to get on the end of it. Defence played well, solid to the man, with Liddle stand out for me, although Austin very good too.
On the whole though, it was a real good performance, and entertaining clappp clappp clappp rolf rolf rolf

personally i thought Liddle has one of his poorest games at CB today. Too many times he stood off their little striker and let him have a free header. But that is a small thing in what otherwise was a good all round display

He went up for the first 3 or 4 and didnt get close so i think he just backed off and went for the second ball which against a slow forward line wasnt a issue.

A good solid performace today with some very good performances. Austin was a class act and his distubution is excellent. I know Jones gave the ball away a few times but its down to him trying to make something happen going forward which is what we need. He is very good a changing the direction of play from the middle. Brown made the world of difference pulling wide and taking men with him.

very good performance and a great result.

there wasnt a pools player who had a bad game and brilliant to see the keeper throwing the ball out to feet.

word of praise for humphreys who i thought had his best game in a pools shirt for years.

Not only was it a very good performance from him, but a couple of times in the first half he was elbowed in the chest/neck/shoulder by the Orient no 15, which was why he had to go off for treatment (more to draw attention to what was going on to the ref, who was poor). I really liked to see we left 2 up when defending free kicks and one for corners right up till the last 10 minutes.
